MP3 vs. iTunes MP3?

Is there any difference in the quality of making an MP3 with protools option (PT9) compared to dropping the same 48k/16bit wave file into iTunes and making the same MP3?

i.e.:Making a 320 kbps?

depends type and quality of the codec (fraunhofer, lame)
