no problem, phil. in fact, i just moved it to a www share for easier download. not everyone is as handy with ftp as we may be...

i agree with 7 about the snare... needs a little more beef. sounds like a M-16 of a snare. make it sound more like my good friend, Mr. One-Niner-Eight ...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks Roy! I should (finally) have a finished product in hand next week. I can't complain too loudly as they really do good work, but DiscMakers seems to be going a tad slow on this one (going on 5 weeks now). Maybe they're really backed up with orders? Hmmmm.

Once that's taken care of, I should at last have a chance to sit down and listen to a lot more of the songs everyone else has been posting.

Phil - Love the track. Clarity is superb. Have to agree about the snare though. It's rather woosy for my liking. I like a snare with guts

Mark, Darren, is the snare low on the whole track to you or just when the "crunch" guitars are going? I had thought they needed to come up in the crunchy parts - and I was going to verb it a bit, but the drummer liked it dry and lower... that's one of the reasons we're letting people hear it - to get their impressions so we can change things now (isn't PT and total recall WONDERFUL?). Anyway, thanks for listening - all comments welcomed - it's only going to help us make it better overall.

Phil,
Great mix... on the snare, to me, more than anything, it's a touch too tinty, or thin sounding...and could come up a touch. I 'hear' a little fatter, yet still, percussive snare... but using this one, I would try to fatten it up, perhaps with EQ...
Everyone's an expert , I know...but that's my honest opinion.
I do say this only to bring it up to the quality of the rest of this fine mix...

i just listened again and i think the snare sounds ok after all. its actually the toms and kick that i don't like. they're very boomy and they overpower the snare.

i changed my mind. i do like the snare. its a bit low, volume wise, still.

Hey Phil,

I really like the vocal arrangement on the chorus, great job ! I also really like the transitions within the song you have really handled them well !!!

daB,

I just have not been able to get to your ftp site through a browser, maybe one of my settings ??? I usually get a server down or busy, try again later. I know I can hit ftp other sites. Thank you for moving it for http access. I also want to thank you for your tips page, it is extremely helpful !!!

Take Care,
Gene

I'm with Roy in that the tone is the problem rather than the volume. It needs to come forward, not up, so I think that reverb would probably hurt it more.
I also agree with Brian in that the boomy toms and kick probably aren't helping.

My taste only
