PT HD1 (core card PCI) x PTHD1(Accel core card PCIE)

Hi
Is there a difference in terms of power between those two systems?
For example, HD2 Accel PCI and HD2 Accel PCI-e have the same power, but...
Since PT HD1 was introduced along with HD2 and HD3, doe this new HD1 has also more power?
How woud it be compared to? a mix Plus, Mix cubed?
Thanks again

Thanks!
So HD1 PCIe is better than HD1 OF but weaker than HD2 Accel.
So it would be equivalent to a mix3 in terms of plugin usage, right?

Only in processing power. HD1-PCIe has 9 DSP chips but Mix3 has 18, so unless your plugins take advantage of the "plugin sharing", you would need HD2-PCIe to match Mix3.

But the raw power is there anyway. As a rule of thumb, one original HD card equals to two Mix cards (in MIPS), and one Accel card equals to two original HD cards (in MIPS). So, as HD1-accel roughly equals to HD2 non-accel, then it also roughly equals to Mix4 (in MIPS), or at least Mix3 that you had in mind.

Still, there's more to it than pure MIPS spec. You know what happens once you run out of free chips

See you're still thinking about the upgrade Alecio. I have loaded mixes that were almost maxed out on my Mix system and had space left on HD2 Accel. There are a few reasons for this and it might not always be the same. However, some plugins are now chip sharing that were not in Mix days and of course each chip is more powerful. You would also have the option of a more powerful computer with more RTAS capability. Beware if you use ADC though. This will take a few slots. I wouldn't recommend to anyone to upgrade to a PCI system though as you'd be stuck one rung further up the ladder with computers.

many thanks thin ice. You got the idea.
I had to gave up, but not totally. A system like HD2Accel + 192 costs twice the price you guys pay in the US down here. It is pretty ridiculous the taxing we have to pay.
Just waiting or a better opportunity.
Nice tuesday. LAbor day here.

Hi, probably i need to buy a new used Core card PCI-X, cause the one i have seems broken.

-Anyone can suggest me if is better to buy a same older Core card PCI-x or with a little more money buy an accel card?

-replacing the Core with the Accel, i will have the same compatibility with the older session maded with the PCI-X? (i read it should be possible)

-Does it will be compatible with my version: HD8?

-Does it will requires more RAM? (i have only 4 giga)

Thanks and cheers
