Auto Talkback
Hey Hey!
A friend asked me about this and, while I've done it, I can't remember how and I'm not at my system to think it through... Basically, how do you get a mic in the control room, being fed to the headphones, to come on when recording is stopped, but stay off while rolling tape (or harddrive)? I did it once in order to sort of streamline the process so whenever recording was stopped, the musician in the room could hear me in the booth right away and as soon as recording resumed "one more time please"... it was automatically cut off. I just can't remember how I did it. I know... stupid question... I'm just having a mental block on this one. (I'ts a ProTools/Digi 002R system he's running) Thanks, Archmart |

Hey Hey!
Perhaps this more specific question might help. How do I get a gate to open ONLY when recording is paused/stopped? I know I've done it before... I just can't remember how... Total mental block... Thanks, Archmart |
Re: Auto Talkback
Run the talkback mic thru a aux track, insert a compressor on it,
make it sidechained and feed it with a prerecorded sinus tone from a separate track. When the session plays the compressor lowers the volume on the TB track. I hope this helps. |
