001 / VHS movie w SMPTE timecode audio track / Universal Slave Driver...??? Sync OK?

Will this run ok? If not what box will make it run OK. Obviously the video tape must be the master.
TIA
Jules

Hi Jules. Don't wanna talk about stuff I don't know, but I'm pretty certain you can't use a USD with the 001. All SMPTE must be converted to MTC.

I've dumped the audio off of a VHS tape into Pro Tools, then using an audio overdub feature on my camcorder, striped the audio of the VHS tape w/SMPTE via Opcode Studio 4, and had low-budget MTC "lock" (Studio 4 will read and convert SMPTE).

Seems the best lock for the 001 is a combination of MTC for trigger sync, and using MOTU's DP or the Aardsync for positional sync, but don't quote me...

A pretty cheap way to get your smpte converted to mtc is with a box from J.L Cooper called the DATASyncII, it sells for about $219

I'm interssed in the same question. I work at the moment with PT4.3.1. and the USD, but suffer about the only 2 outputs of the AMIII-Card. As long as I heard, the Digi001 only syncs to MTC. The USD itself also has a MIDI output. So the way of the signal will be SMPTE from Beta to the USD. This converts it to MTC. The MTC goes to the 001 and then Your in sync. But there is a more direct way from SMPTE to MTC. And a cheaper....
There are lots of SMPTE to MTC converters on the market. J.L. Cooper f.e. is not a bad idea, but there are even cheaper solutions working properly.
