Pro Tools Digilink I/O license transferable?
 

I have just sold my old HD 12.6 license and I purchased a brand new Ultimate license. Before I shell out $299 to be able to use HDX card with Avid interfaces that I own, I was wondering if I could purchase a second hand Digilink I/O license? I understand it is included with every new Avid interface purchased after the license has been introduced so it's possible there are many unused Digilink licenses out there, aren't there?

I have found myself in a situation where I purchased an HDX card, a fresh Pro Tools Ultimate license and I've already owned Avid converters from my previous HD Native and HD Accel systems. I had thousands of $ worth Avid software and hardware which had to be unlocked by an additional Digilink I/O license. I bought it, since there was no other choice, but it feels really uncomfortable that you have to pay additional money if you want to use an already expensive HDX system.

If I had an HD Native card the obvious choice would be to sell it with all Avid converters and to purchase third party audio interface, such as Apogee.

I hope there will be a time when Avid will recognise the absurd of such cases.
