Mastering Engineer Recommendation wanted!
Hello,
Can anyone please recommend a professional (yet affordable) mastering engineer? There's quite an industry of people offering their services on the internet, but it's hard to differentiate. Thanks very much! -todd amodeo |

Go to your Local library and look for the Nashville yellow Pages. 'nuff said.
Oh, wait. You said affordable? Hmmm... Try Diskmakers. They'll master it, burn it, and probably give you the glass master to put on the wall. See if they can send you a sample to A/B. Just remember that money most of the times means a good product. You usually get what you pay for. OR find a guy who has a Fairchild Stereo Limiter and ask just to use that. I cold fart into a styrofoam cup and make it sound like Vivaldi through a $35,000 Fairchild. |

Nancy Matter at Moolight Mastering. Check it out.
Her cost is quite reasonable. She also has duplication services. |
Re: Mastering Engineer Recommendation wanted!
Just curious, would you mic that styrofoam cup with a U87?

Re: Mastering Engineer Recommendation wanted!
what's "reasonable"?

Re: Mastering Engineer Recommendation wanted!
Rodney Mills here in Georgia is pretty good... reasonable rates. He's been on a lot of records too...
I think the last time I used him was about $10/minute of song. |

Bob Ludwig @ Gateway Mastering
It don't get any better than that! |
Re: Mastering Engineer Recommendation wanted!
I haven't been too terribly pleased with some of ludwig's latest volume war alliances. (He just finished a good friends album...the friend is happy, but I'm dissappointed in Bob's work on this particular project.)
But...his track record certainly speaks highly of his work...and I normally would as well. (The sheer amount of limiting on the latest one I've heard may be at the request of the label, producer, or even the artist in question. I will admit that for such an unbelievably non-dynamic and totally squashed final result it sounds impeccably good.) |
