.. about 10 grand. :-)

HD uses PCI style plugin cards that connect to select digi interfaces for I/O but also provide a certain amount of DSP power for plug processing (TDM) without taxing the host system. The specific plugins for TDM generally cost a bit more than native RTAS versions and they only run on HD systems.

There are also some track limitation differences and other little odds and ends. I'd say when your ready for PTHD you'll know the differences.

There are some BIG differences and lots of little differences..

Way too many to list out..

Do you have the PT Reference guide pdf? If so, browse through that and you'll see all kinds of things that are "HD only"..

Some big difs would be: ADC, higher track/bus limit, low latency recording via the HD hardware, DSP hardware..

Some more subtle difs are the automation options, group options, sync options, and about 1000 other things that you wouldn't know were different until you found it in the manual..

I really hope that within a few months these differences will dissapear slowly. Not all, but many I hope.:-)

Yes, I am optimistic.
