Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Gene,
Hey I used my trusty pair of AT3031s about 2 meters in front of the quartet, in ORTF right in the middle. I added an MXL2001 about a foot away from the guitarist (nylon string) for more guitar (he had an amp, too...). The viola sounds like it could have used a spot mic on it too...I guess everything could have but it was live and we didn't want to crowd the stage with mics...it was done in a very reverberated church downtown toronto. JonM,
Could you possibly just email me your new song? I have to set up a separate soundcard to play from MP3unsigned (which I will, but an email/MP3 would be great)...I'de really like to hear it. thanks, Roy |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Thanks, Roy. I'm kind of flattered.
I'm at work now, so I will email it when I get home. Alternatively, if you decide you don't want to clog up your inbox with the musical meanderings of this madman, you can find it at my Soundclick page . It's a rough mix that needs a bit of work, so don't expect too much! Jon |

I've no idea how you make a guitar make those noises, but I'm really enjoying 'Moonbeam Seduction'. Even on my crappy computer speakers here at work, there so much good stuff going on on so many different strat in the mix it's awesome. I feel very, very humble. |

funkgypsy
This is certainly funky. Wish there was a bit more of it! Interesting production. The vocal is so low in the mix, yet it seems to kind of work, even if I can't make out a word you're singing. Can't you post the whole track? Please!!!?? |
Re: Instrumental Song
Hi all. Catching up with the latest tunes posted here. Missed really a lot of pages so I've got some work to do. Also haven't been doing much with my pc lately, 'till I started making the Porn Funk for the Porn Vibe Contest. Still on PT 5.3.1, I have been using Cubase with Reason and Rebirth rewired for the porn funk as I do most of the time when toying along.
Stanonbass your Snooze song is an awesome composition. There's obviously a whole lot of musical theory behind it. The mix may be a bit refined perhaps to put the finishing touch, for a rough mix however there's a lot of space in it. Yogevsam that's some wonderful music. The women sings beautiful and the whole compositions sound very, what's the word?, meaningful. Like filosophical, but that's not the word I'm looking for (I'm dutch). Deep! Beautiful. JonM, good chord progression. Think the drums may be played with a bit more power (I'd say 'conviction'). Not completely my style, also a bit too slow but I really dig the acoustic guitar. All in all a bit into the direction of Leonard Cohen imo. But I think there could happen a bit more in the song. Listening to The Foreboding, acoustic solo sets in, bit too loud but well played. Funkygypsy I'm not into folk at all but this little piece made me feel very cheerful. I feel some restrained drive behind the playing of the banjo (or is it a ukelele?), some inhelt power. Goes for the singing also, very pushing. I really dig the tune, please send in the whole song. See you folks later , Walther |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Jon,
I really like the song, and your style of writing...as in the first song('Counting the Beats'), the acoustic guitars are played very well and set a very cool mood. I would tighten up the percussion and maybe pull the guit solo back some...but I know this a ruff for now, so...I like it very much... -Roy |
