"Path to session contains illegal characters"

hi everyone,

i'm asking for some help on behalf of a friend, who's having an issue with pt 10 on his macbook pro..

--

here are the particulars of the problem:

newly installed protools 10
when i open a new session, when i try to save, i get the comment:

Path to session contains illegal characters ( / ).

when i open a new session, and import sound files, and try to save, i also get:

Path to session contains illegal characters ( / ).

Mac processor - 2.2 Ghz intel core i7
OS - 10.7.5
8 Gb ram
using glyph firewire drive

everytime i have opened any session, i can not save it, even after adding files / regions.
i always get that statement:
Path to session contains illegal characters ( / ).
and it does not: no "/"

many thanks for any tips!

Select the session file in the finder, command-I for get info. Look at the file path there; I'll bet you'll see an illegal character somewhere.

best,
rich

Have you looked at the file path?

Is the path to save going through to the Glyph drive? A couple of months back I had one of my GPT50's go south and it was, amongst other things (like -50 errors), giving me the illegal character error message. And it only happened when I had Kontakt 5 (the AAX version) in the session.
