Oh yea? It becomes an upgrade game year after year and there will be a time when you notice you have their "everything" bundle that gives you extra presents as long as your WUP is active, and then you find out that their "everything" bundle has either changed a name and requires a paid upgrade, or they just plain and simply decide that what once was double priced (TDM) no longer exists and you lose 50% of your investment overnight. There is no free lunch is there?

Well, if you don't want it don't sign up.

I never upgrade my WUP unless there is a need for it. I thought others may be interested in a free plugin. I don't want to get into a Waves bashing thread here.

I have zero problem if someone wants a free plugin, just that it's only free for 12 months

I think he's talking about the WUP payment that comes into play after a year. But one really doesn't need WUP.

Now if I only knew what they were giving away. I'd like a free C6 thank you.

Thanks guys, I still don't get it very well, I don't know what is WUP but as long as my Trueverb keeps working I'll take that free C6 or whatever they're going to give.

WUP is Waves Update Plan. I agree that you may not need to buy that every year, and they are supposed to have a cap on the total, so its something you can buy when you really need to:o

That sounds more like Avid? They give you free plugins, but then take them back after 12 months unless you pay them a premium to keep 'em.

I have gotten a bunch of free waves plugins over the last few years. Never paid a cent for them... Beats a kick in the nuts, but I pass no judgement if you prefer a hefty boot in the ol' swing bag. :o
