reinstatement question
I have an expired pro tools hd perpetual license, I bought a reinstatement code from a reseller and registered the code in January but didn't activate it. So under my products I have the pro tools ultimate tab and the "select upgrade options" button still waiting. To my understanding I can upgrade any time i like (?). My issue comes now that i opened my license manager and noticed the Complete bundle there with a deposit date of 04/23/2020 and an expiration date of 01/13/21 ... how is this possible? I haven't surrendered any license or activated my reinstatement code.

Re: reinstatement question
Yes I made the same mistake earlier this year. As soon as it is registered to your Avid account, the clock starts ticking, regardless of if you have actually reinstated the license or not. Avid support did make things for me right in the end, open a case with support and hopefully one of the mods or Jeffro sees this post as well.

Re: reinstatement question
Oh no, that's too bad, I registered it as my reseller told me it could expire. So if is it now as if I had a support plan? I hope i can fix this... The worst part is I intended to update next year since this one has been terribly low...

Re: reinstatement question
Hi, same question here. I have seen it asked a couple of times here on the forum but no rock solid answer.
Currently on Hd 12.8.2 and Mojave. Running pretty smoothly. even import and export video formats;) However with the new M1 machines i am thinking about how necessary it will be To jump ship in the next year or two. I found a renewal option for perpetual license from a dealer here in europe, which is drastlically cheaper tham the one Avid offers currently. Must be old stock?:-) The question is can i buy it now, but register the code and activate the license On 1st of December 2021 or even 1st of February 2022. I dont really need it now... |

Re: reinstatement question
Hi,
thanks for your reply. I understand that. But if i buy it from a reseller then i wouldn't be redeeming the code upon buying but, when i connect it to my avid account and then my ilok, true? Just want to be safe:-) Also, is it possible to download prior updates? FOr example: - i buy the reinstatement plan from a reseller today - i activate the code on 15th of March 2021 and have the plan valid till 15th of march 2022 - i can install the latest 2021.3 Pro tools:-) - or will i be able to download and install 2019.5 if it would work better on my OSX? |
Re: reinstatement question
Upon further googling it is safe to say, taht the optimal version of PT for Mojave is 2019.5
So i would just like to know, if i upgrade my plan (reinstatement) form a 3rd party vendor form 12.8.2. i now own, would i be able to get all the incremental updated from 12.8.2. to 2020.11? or just the later? worked in the past, not sure if Avid change the game here also... might be a silly question but still. thanks |
Re: reinstatement question
You would be able to run 2019.5 after redeeming the Reinstatement. The Pro Tools Perpetual license, included the license bundle you get with the Update Plan Reinstatement, authorizes version 12.6/higher (any version released up through the Release Limit date).
