Best budget router to dedicate for S1’s and Control App 2023
 

I’ve seen threads about routers for the control app and S1, but many of the models appear to have been discontinued and replaced already. Haven’t found a current list of approved routers. Looking for a router to dedicate to the control app and Eucon. I have 2 s1’s, 2 fire 10 hd’s in meter mode, and an iPad for the master tablet. My main home router does a good job about 75% of the time, but otherwise can’t keep up for the control app. It’s also halfway across the house, so my idea is to add an inexpensive router in the studio and dedicate it to the control app. Will something like this work? Looking for a reasonable option that will get the job done. Thanks!

Anything that handles dual-band should do the job. Having the router close by(as opposed to the other end of the house) will also help. I had good performance with a Linksys model but I'm sure its discontinued, but...dual-band is the key. Bigger and more antennae gets you more distance:o

As other have said a good dual band router will do. If running a lot of tablets one of the gaming ones with 3 band is even better. BUT more importantly check out so of the settings that can cause drops on this site Avid Control KB
In particular disable auto switching between 2.6 and 5 bands.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up going with an Asus RT-AX55. So far so good. It's definitely more stable and responsive than it's ever been running it off my main router.
