PT not launching
 
Hi,
I have a perpetual license pro tools which I purchased in May 2020. Now PT won't launch on the Mac, it bounces once. I have tried everything.

I did get an email a month ago saying 'Your Pro Tools update and support plan has expired'. It expired June 1st. I logged in to Avid, it seemed to suggest that the plan was 29.99 as it said annually after it so I ordered thinking it might be the solution. Then after the transaction I noticed it was 29.99 a month, WTF!

I don't get it, what is a perpetual license if it isn't perpetual? I have not used it as I want a refund.

The thing is, I don't get why PT is not starting. Nothing has changed with my Mac. I don't need updates, I'm happy with PT as it is. I only put the info about the update plan just in case this is the problem.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Check your iLok license manager. If you have subscription license, it will not launch once you stop paying. If it is perpetual (permanent) you only will not get updates after you stop paying, but if nothing else changes PT will keep going.

In addition, if your iLok has any expired license for Pro Tools, that can confuse the issue and cause PT to not open as it "sees" the expired asset and stops in its tracks. Deactivate any expired license to move it off of the iLok:o
