Oh no, again new song from Rotten!!!

It is about terrorism; politicians tell us that poverty is reason of terrorism. That is untrue, because terrorists have political goals and terror is not cheap.

Well, I worked a bit with the concert and here is another movement from the recital. Once again if you are not into classical, this will definitely put you to sleep.

tepes22b,
Listened to both 'super duper' and 'satan's claws'.....the profanity is a little over the top for me personally, but the productions are well done...drums, bass, and guitars sound great.
Post more when you can...

Finne,
Sounds great...good job on the mix. One of these days, I will surprise you with my fluent Finnish, but until then, the music sounds really good.

Very cool, Gene...so, the first one you posted was by Franck, right? What did you do differently on this Brahms mix?

Quite the contrary Gene,I love this kind of music.Classical seems to soothe me when I'm in a bad mood. You can always tell what kind of mood the author was in when you listen.Very good recording by the way.Cheers

Yes Roy, the first was Franck. I went back into the entire night and pushed the piano back a little more and brought the violin a little more center to take that 'distant' sound that Mark was mentioning.

The setting was a church, but they were about 3 feet from the pews so there was no place in front that I could set up. I set up to the side and from my view the violin was left and the piano was right, but the violin was less than a foot away from the piano. Truthfully, in all the recitals that I had ever played in, I was never that close to the piano.

While there is not a whole lot of difference, but there is some. Enough that the violin is a little more in the picture. I have worked on the Franck also, but left the original mix up to show the slight difference.

Very good recording by the way. Cheers

skip b,

Thank you for your kind words. I have been doing a lot of choral work, and this opportunity came up to help out a friend. I just could not have passed it up. I have Vivaldi's Gloria next week in a church with brass quintet and organ. I'm really looking forward to it.

Thank you both for the listen !

Gene

thanks for the input guys.. however here is the latest that ive worked on.

http://www.b-sidesrecording.com/samples/track03.mp3

let me know what you guys think

This is a very good recording/performance/production.

The drums are especially good, which in my view usually determines how "pro" a song sounds. Very nice work.

voideco, cool stuff.

toddamo, your stuff sounds really good, too. I like the songs, but was wanting to hear more definition in the drums. But that be the sound your shooting for, nice work. I like the interplay between the vocal parts.

Gene, very nice work on both your recordings. I'm a big Brahms fan, so I like that one better, but I like the sound a lot. You can tell it's a recital and not a studio, but there's something to it I'm really drawn to. And the performances are great. Are these your daughters peers playing? Fantastic. stuff. I've listened to the Brahms quite a few times.

"Satan's Claws" isn't really my bag genre-wise, but good production and playing.

Finne, I liked your stuff a lot. Nice mix between guitars and synths. What are you using?
And as for your lyrics, it's rare a songwriter can speak to me like that, really tell me my own story Just kidding, great work.

Unfortunately not. I recorded this for a friend who normally records this group of musicians. It is the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra of Indiana. The concert this time was a chamber presentation, thus only 2 players. http://www.lcso.net/subscription/chamber.htm

My friend has been recording them for a number of years, but he had another commitment so he asked me. I was thrilled at the opportunity !

Thank you again for listening !

Dear Mr Bad,

You made me so happy, Thank You.

I made guitars with Gibson Les Paul and Vox TonelabSE and a synth is Malmström of Reason 2.5.

Joz, Sounds GREAT on my 7.1 computer speakers, not time to listen in the studio...but that is usually a good indicator.

Cool 80s pop rock meets modern vibe. i really like it.

What reverbs are you using on the vocals?

Here is a link to songs that have been posted on 'Latest Stuff'. This is a combination of songs I saved beginning Jan.'04, and songs DaBasstard had saved even prior to that. (I alone had 153 folders from the past year, each a different artist, and each containing 1-10 songs). They are on Bastiaan's server.
If anyone wants anything added or deleted, email me or Bastiaan.

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!

Here's one I just finished mixing called Hurting Kind. Don't be afraid to criticize! I can take it. Feel free to tear me a new one if you feel inclined. It's how I learn.

She's rocking out pretty hard on this one so I was trying not to make the mix too pretty. Vocal, organ, and guitar were taking up a lot of mid range so that is probably the biggest challenge.

All recording and mixing on Mbox.

What reverbs are you using on the vocals?

D-verb mono, panned to the right. Guitar is sent there too (in the verse the guitar is in the left and its reverb to the right, pretty cool). And another D-verb panned left, harmonies go there and tambo. That way the reverb doesnt clogh the mix. This is the first time I use D-verb. It worked because I needed a "low quality" sounding verb with not much diffusion. Or maybe because I was too lazy to hook up my hardware lexicon reverb.

Funny...I just used some dverb on a few tracks I just mixed...somehow they were the only ones that sounded right.

It is always better than I expect....LOL.

Roy, I'm using a Les Paul gold top, straight into PT, then I reamped the signal to a JCM800's clean channel cranked up(not a clean tone at all) and also reamped to a Fender DeVille clean channel cranked up as well.

It does sound killer, Joz.....I have a DeVille too, but it's just SO clean, I usually use something else for anything that needs a little overdive...I bet the JCM800 is the main culprit in the killer sound. What compressor(if any) are you using on the guitar(s)? Very cool about the guitar/left, Dverb/right verse thing too.

Roy, the JCM800 is only coming in the left speaker, and the fender in the right, they are both pretty distorted. Ecxept on the intro and outro, were theres and extra guitar in the middle.
So left and right are different performances, and the middle guitar is the same performance as the left but reamping using a carl martin distortion pedal.
I used a high-pass on the reverbs at around 600hz to give it that vintage effect and to keep the mix from being muddy.

Joz. Great guitarsound in getawaygo. Intro reminded me briefly of Bjork with the synth. Catchy popsong.

Bigpit, nice melodic song, Peter DJ Brighter. Off the record, underscores in the title of the song will prevent the confusing %20-signs to appear in Media Player. More importantly, nice job on composing this peaceful song.

Badperson thank you for listening. Post some stuff of yours when you can, I'll be checking into it.

Gotta work on some more tunes, bloody writers block keeps me from further progress.

Hi macr0w,
There are various ways to post songs. Some people have set up their own ftp servers for posting their songs. If that's not an option for you, you might check out SoundClick, a site specifically for this. If it's just one song you'de like posted for a while, email it to me and I'll be glad to post it for you.

DOC\'s Gone Country

All,
So today was a VERY EASY day... Had my first country gig, and it was fun. IT was easy though. Basically a singer, singing to a cd without the audio. We call that Karaoke right? But it was fun, and she could sing too. That was a plus.... could really hear the TLM 103 working. Oh, and it paid. We did 4 songs in 5 hours time Sing to master, and she loved it. Songs were from Faith Hill, Reba, Gretchen Wilson, and Terry Clark.

Basically imported the audio into Wavelab, ripped it as a 44/24 wave and brought into Pro Tools.

Here was the audio chain:

TLM-103 into the Vintech 1272 into 1176 into Apogee Rosetta 800.
Neve URS EQ on vocals
R Comp - very little
Lexicon PCM 90 Reverb

Then mastered

IT was fun and turned out pretty sweet.... Easy, very easy!

The singers name was Casey Tricarico

Just Wanna Be Mad - Terry Clark

Cry - Faith Hill

Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson

Somebody - Reba

PRetty fun, and I am really liking the new room sound with this mic. Cleared out the drums and had nothing but a mic... worked really well...

Enjoy,

- Doc

It wasn't a synth  I took the las hit of the song and recorded it with lots of reverb and delays(with lots of resonance) then reversed it and sticked it on the intro.
I'm glad it reminded you of Bjork, I've always liked her.
