Rabbit,

I loved this piece. I mean, I really loved it. I think it is well mixed, good seperation and fun lyrics.

Just cool.

I liked this very much too, so did my wife. Good job, sounds great even on $ 10 PC speakers.

Hats off.

Re: Latest stuff

i´m doing this arrengment of mingus porkypiehat for guitar,
looking further for already done ones,
i heard one from john mclaughlin (my goals beyond album), wich i don´t have,
and another from i don´t know who,
any clues? (not the one from jeff beck, wich i love too, but only guitar)
maybe i could find some partitures,

here's
a little bit of what i'm doing,
i transposed it to E 'cause it's easyer for guit,
only have the real book version, and here in mexico
it's not so easy to find resources,
thank you.

Found this one while cleaning off an old drive. It's a song my ex-girlfriend wrote and we recorded while we were dating. hope you like it.

AS usual,
Roy's, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai meets The Man himself "Roy Howell" on a dark street alley song rips it up.... Roy, I think that you should do a song that is FAST! I know you can do it. The driving bass lines with some whacked out shreddin'. You have it in you on that rig of yours!

This song is great! Very smooth and driving.... totally dig the low guitar riffs hidden deep in the background. That little slide guitar fits nice too. Way cool man!

The Dark alley slayer has returned!

C'mon, make a shred song called "Dark Alley Slayer" for me... please!

ch Nazi camps/Balkan was not a lesson, a massacre is handy way to solve subjects
Ruanda was not a lesson, Chechnya will not be a lesson, a massacre is....

ver2 1/3 is killed, Kofi (Annan) got his 2nd term because he promise to forget Chechnya, so he got support of Russia.

Finne, this might very well be my favourite song by you this far. A great rocker and I really think everything fits very well. Your vocals work very good for this kind of tune IMO.

Stiff 01-31-2005 06:18 AM

Re: Arbeit macht frei

Btw Roy, you know I enjoy all your songs a lot (and that last tune of yours was a killer) but I think Doc is right here... The missing piece of the Roy Howell puzzle is a fast shredder song

WOW! i havent checked up on this thread for awhile, and all i can say is there is some incredible work on here!

Finne-awesome songs. really original sound and awesome guitar riffs and twangs! i'm stoked to hear some finnish rock besides Apulanta....hehe.
Roy-****in great song Rattlesnake Ugly is...each song you make keeps getting better. I really like it. And yes, it is time for you to make a fast shredder song

i'm still listening back over the past few pages i've missed and will throw in my opinions as i have time. really, really good stuff though.

Keep up the good work man... You make songs fast, and I'm glad you do.

Stiff, I am mayby the worst singer in the universe. So this kind of song needs off tune sining, it is matter of taste.

Anyway nice you like it.

Quote:

You make songs fast

That's nothing. About 10 years ago I and my frend, who made lyrics, made 2-5 songs one night. Lyrics is the hard part for me.

nightshadecrisis:

Thanks, it was awesome criticism.

underbiteman:

That is one weird piece of music.

nightshadecrisis 02-01-2005 09:28 AM

Re: Arbeit macht frei

I'm Finnish and speak it and understand it all fluently...My golf-ball size brain doesnt usually rap around lyrics too easily though, no matter what language it is. I really have to concentrate if I want to hear and understand all the lyrics. Its probably all the Lapin Kulta and Estonian vodka us Finns drink, bogs us down! Kinda like the Swedes and Surstrom....

anyways, keep up the good work, im checking out your song right now underbiteman, and i'll chip in my 2 cents a little later when im not trying to do 300 things at once.

I'm new to the forum, but alot of people here have got some really good stuff goin on. Rpatterson - the bullmoose stuff sounds great.

This is a track done to 2 inch through an SSL, but mixed in the box on a digi002. I'll apologize in advance for the vocals being a little pitchy. Any comments on the mix would be great - Look forward to hearing more mixes from everyone.

Doc... .....so, you want a fast shredder, eh?...to be titled 'Dark Alley Slayer'?...OK, I'll throw that in the blender right now and see what comes out.

I'm gonna catch up on listening to these other recent posts now too. Sounds like some good stuff's been posted.

Roy,

The intro to Rattlesnake Ugly is inspired (the rest is great, also, of course). Not to ask you to divulge secrets, but would you please identify the high frequency sound at the beginning of the fifth (10th?) measure...some piece of percussion...is it one of the triangles that comes in later?

Hi Jack Rabbit...you have a good ear, sir. One whole midi track for that one note...hehe. It's simply a VS Bells sound from my Korg 01R/W module, and I felt the guitar harmonics needed a boost right there.
By the way, in case you missed my earlier post about 'crown', I'm very impressed by your stuff. Haven't heard your latest posting, but I'm about to get to listen. Looking forward to it.
thanks, Roy

It's those touches that I'm looking forward to trying to implement myself...once I get the noise down to a level where such a touch would even be perceptible. Thanks for listening to my stuff...and if you ever want to contribute a lead part...

I'de be glad to add something on 'crown and anchor' for you, or whichever song you prefer. All I need is an mp3 of the song with the original session countoff at the top. Email me when you get a chance.

phervort,
Century of Hell kind of reminds me of Samael (not their early stuff) and Kovenant (not the group spelling with a "c"), a bit softer perhaps... I'm a fan of both those groups
I think you have an own touch to it though. Good work.
