S4 improvemt thoughts.

Just a couple of things I thought that might be simple but effective improvents

1. The transport keys remain active in screening mode so that you can still control session playback during a screening

2. Break out the folder spill option to include two other options: Routing folder spill and regular folder spill.
I like to see all the routing folders but not the internal regular folders on my spill section.

Thanks

Garret.

Re: S4 improvemt thoughts.

Greetings,

Basic Folders and Routing Folders are both extremely useful for managing and accessing members on S4 and S6.

Even Basic Folders provide the following capabilities:
Color-coded clip overview thumbnails on the display modules
Ability to Auto-Spill to instantly access folder members on Attention
Manual Spill into a user designated zone using Menu + Zone X
Nested, hierarchical access up or down a tree of folders up to 9 layers deep

Ability to access hidden folders from either spilled top level folders or within Track Layouts. This provides access and control on all parameters within the tracks with everything short of recording. Use the Settings > User > Show Closed Folder Members in > to specify the conditions when you want to see members.

Find a location with the top level routing or Basic Folder to place additional nested folders. I prefer having the VCA master as the first track within the spilled folder, then in many cases, additional nested folders near the end after the units. You can also use the Basic folders (with their very nice thumbnails) as a natural separation device to subdivide the units and food groups within the nested folder.

best,

Jeff

Re: S4 improvemt thoughts.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks. I am utilising all the benefits of both routing and basic folder tracks as you've described and it is very powerful.

My suggestion is a very simple one and perhaps on rereading my post wasn't that clear.

I would like the ability to press right spill and under track types have an additional track type of Routing folders rather than just the option of all folders.

This way I can spill my VCAs on the left of the console and my Routing folders on the right. I then have overall level control of the entire mix at two different points in the chain.

At the moment the basic folders are taking up fader real estate that they are not using. I can get to them easily should I want to by spilling the routing folders.

I want this independent of what is on the screen in Pro tools as I want all the basic folders open on the Pro tools screen.

Thanks

Garret

Understood. In the meantime, either leverage Spilled Track Layouts - or simply orient the Basic Folders near the end of the logical bank.

best,

Jeff

Re: S4 improvemt thoughts.

Thanks Jeff,

Yes obviously this is certainly not a deal breaker in any way as there a lot of ways to achieve it as per your suggestions. Merely just a handy little addition if time allows!

The transport panel still working in screening mode I think would also be great to have as an option

Thanks

Garret.

Re: S4 improvemt thoughts.

I added this to the feature request list but the software team said it was quite a big task effecting PT, S6 and EuControl...so we might not get to it this year unfortunately. If the features we are working on get done early then maybe.
