Re: Looking for input and opinions...

Hi to all. I just wanted to get some input on a song we did yesterday. Please mind that there were clicks and mechanical noise added in the track every so couple of seconds, it will be easy to tell when it comes in. Just tryin to keep most imposters from direct samplin at bay. I am not sayin this is the ish or anything but just don't want people copyin styles. This is what I could get as far as general self mastering level. So after listenin could you let me know what you think the songs listenability and overall mix/level/pan balance is like to you. Much Appreciated.

Greg: This tune has an awesome vibe man! I agree also on the guitar tones that they are great. Sounds like a classic clean Telecaster if I am not mistaken through the new tubes on the amp??

Thank you Charlie! I guess with the recapping/retubing this song was more work than most! There's an American Standard Tele on the left side doing chords through Amplitube (I think I just *forgot* to replace it with amp and mic). The lead guitars are actually a Les Paul with Burstbuckers. I play with my fingers with both pickups selected, maybe neck around 6 and bridge around 4 and amp on 3 for the first bit. Then for the solo I turned the guitar neck on 7, bridge on 10 and amp on 4. When the open strings get smashed, bridge-only on 10, amp on 5 and I use a pick on the way out. All punches, of course.

The parts came from Allen Amplification and replaced all the electrolytics, and the tubes were Svetlana 6L6GCs and 12AX7s are EH. Excellent service and instructions. I haven't tried cherry picking V1 (12AX7) yet from my bag of tubes.

I was VERY surprised at the range of tones coming out of that Paul. 30 years of owning Les Pauls and who knew??

This one is now being called done as far as I am concerned. Should make the radio in a few weeks for the local licks that get played around here. PRetty cool tune. Great job Jason on the bass. Hope you like the mix.

Original Sin - Rothman

Enjoy, I think that the bass really filled it out.

hehe, thought I heard a tele in there somewhere. yeah those Les Pauls are very versatile man. I have always played strats in the past when I was more into electric guitar and then a friend got a Les Paul and I started playing here and where also and I am ISO a good Classic for a decent price now on my wishlist. hehe That bassman rig had a helping hand in the sound I am sure... When I pick up a Les Paul Classic, I am tempted to pick up a Fender Blues Jr. and make the mods also just for the price... those things are smokin' for the price.

Doc: Sounds cool man! As far as the over all mix goes this one has a more "bright" tone to it, but there is still just something about his tune "Beautiful" that I believe he should push.. Just has that vibe... don't know if it is the difference in writing between the tunes or the warmth on the other one, but that one has something. Have a knack for that stuff from doing up A&R in a previous life... hope all is cool man. peace

Re: Doc\'s new tunes

Charlie,
Thanks man! I will pass the words to him. These are the two that will be sent around if that helps you. I think that the mix in "Beautiful" will be tweeks some more. A little over compressed in the master, but we shall see. There are some tweeks that I would like to do with that tune and will probably get it back out.

This one is definitely a brighter tune, and more "boppin" which the local radio station here loves. Should be a good one to heay on the waves.

Thanks though...

- Doc
