Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
hi! i was feeling a bit frisky today and decided to upload my first song (go me!) these guys are a hard rock band, so i tried for a pretty in your face mix which was fun because the singer liked his vocals realy low in the mix. let me know what you think, it a pretty cool tune none the less.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Deave,
It's hard to comment on the mix due to the relatively low mp3 conversion quality...but what I would reccomend is picking up "Thirteenth Step" by "A Perfect Circle" for some comparison listening while mixing. 13th Step is IMO by far the best produced, mixed, and mastered album of Maynard's...and he's an obvious influence on these guys. I would bring up the vocals despite the artist's request...just compress the snot out of him so delicate stuff is around the same volume as the loud stuff...then automate dynamics back into it...sort of backwards from what you'd normally think of doing with compression and automation. Joz, dramaqueen and leech: Sound good...nitpicky, but I'd bring up the overheads a tad or maybe just add a bit of air to them...12 or 14 k and up. the search: excellent mix...for some reason after listening to the entire tune through and letting it repeat I want to hear that riff/comp guitar in the beginning panned about 10 degrees closer to center and up a tad...just for those opening bits...everything else just sounds superb to me on this one. 8mmOverdose, Regarding "My Name is Andrew"; I'd bring up the vocals a bit...I find myself struggling slightly to make out the words in the verses. The rest of it sounds great to me...ready for mastering. rchaffin, Regarding your son's tune "loosing control"...good for the genre! I don't know how to comment on it besides this: while listening it brings back a memory: I picture myself in front of the old nintendo in a heated battle against a college roommate playing Super Mario Cart with the stereo pumping this music at a volume so deafening you really feel it more than you hear it! (Don't worry, that's supposed to be a compliment!) Well, That's all the listening for now...gotta head to work! Cheers, Chris |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Hi folks.
It’s been a while. Here’s a link to a few of my productions: http://home.online.no/~bjensse/Musikk.html The two at the top are the latest. Both recorded live in my studio with 001. |

rchaffin/Rick,
Just listened to 'loosing control'.....great effort by your son and his friend...amazing energy, the music itself would be really good for a video game. Good job, and I hope they keep writing. -Roy |

Steve,
Very cool...I bet John Sebastian would be proud... ...really interesting (and good) 60's-ish production on this...great string lines. I really enjoyed hearing this. -Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Cheers Roy, it's part of retraining myself to sing one vocal & not double/triple it.. just something I recorded for the hell of it.
Met John Sebastian on a plane once.. nice chap -S. |

Thanks for your feedback guys! It kinda lit a spark into him again! Here's a sample of a more recent tune he did with his girlfriend and the bass player in his band. It's an acoustic number.....
