Sorry about that Roy, I needed the space to send some tunes to a few musicians to track a few more things on some stuff. But, anyway, I've got the tune Out of Here back up and a little Jazzy thing I'm finished with up also just for you!!! You can find them here:

one of my overly simplified webpages

Hey Chris,

In "Ouf of here" i hear something funky going on at 39 and 50 seconds into the mp3. It sounds like a weird edit or something. Ofcourse my player could be the culprit...;-)

Nice song by the way. I enjoyed it....

But that jazz stuff you record is amazing.... (and i have a weakness for upright bass... )

Hi Chris,

great job. That tune is called "Can't We be Friends." A great old standard. You've inspired me to do some jazz, I'll figure out a tune over the weekend and post it.

Nice playing. Is that professor you recorded last time?

Thanks BP, you really know your standards! Yeah, that's the pianist from Eastman, the Bassist from LSU (that got his masters and doctorate from Eastman), and The Bassists son on drums.

Thanks for letting me know about the glitches Bastiaan in OUt of Here. I'm still working on it so it's highly possible there really is a bad edit or two. I'll check it out.

Chris...
Man, that was just so nice.('Out of Here', that is)...you did a great job recording these guys too. I scrolled back to see if I could find it, but who's the singer? I love this stuff, and I appreciate you reposting it.
On my next break, I'll listen to 'Can't we be friends'...
thanks, Roy

Out of Here is a song by a friend of mine named Mark Dunbar. He recorded it for an album of a particular christian band that he's in called Pierced. The song really however has very few of the actual band members on it, and is the only song I've ever heard Mark sing the Lead on. Calvin Turner (the 19 year old phenom from New Orleans recently relocated to Nashville) replaced the original drums and bass without ever listening to the tune. (Seriously, he just sat down and said start rolling! He could feel everything perfectly and nailed it!) Shawn Carter of Lafayette, LA on piano. Mark sings lead and plays the continuous rhythm acoustic part. Ed Cash of Nashville came up with and played a second rhythm part on the verses and the lead (played on Bebo Norman's guitar). We kept a few words of a very nice girl's attempt at background vocals.

This tune was tracked on many different systems: 001 on PC, TDM 24 mix plus on a mac, and Nuendo on PC, and I'm doing all the mixing with my 002. I tracked them in Nashville, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette.

They are really a musically talented band despite the fact they've adopted the genre Christian. It goes from rocking, to jazzy, to latin, to....yes....boring, but not every song can be great all the time. Anyway, I'm glad everyone seems to really like the recording and the mix. I look forward to getting some of their other tunes up soon. (Maybe some final masters and not just "good enough" mixes.)

Chris,
Well, 'Can't we be friends?' just blew me away...just so fine. Sheesh, these guys are great, and you did a great job of capturing the piece. I'm putting this one aside to play just whenever...
thanks, Roy
