This is a buddy's son band that I recorded on a 001 (on mac) and mixed with a MBox (on PC). They are not done with it yet, but hope to finish it with inthe next century. Anyway, tell me what you think. It is a WMA file. Thanks in advance

Great tune. I am looking forward to hearing the finished version. Is all of their stuff like this?

Can I ask how you recorded the guitar?

Yes all of their stuff is like this. They just added a Piano player and a mando player so we will be hopefully finishing up the tracks.

The guitar, I used his pickup and an AT4050 between the sound hole and the fret board. I found that that is the sweet spot on most accustics and sometimes I will throw a omni just above the persons strumming shoulder to get a different sound out of the guitar.

Thank for liking the tune. I will let the guys know and keep you informed on the up coming tracks.

Bret,
Dig the tune... Will listen at home on the monitors, but cool vibe so far. Like the guitar sounds too. Very lo-fi, but smooth....

here's one my ex-girlfriend wrote after the tsunami. it has a really cool bridge part about 3/4 of the way through the song. hundreds of background vocals, guitars, etc.

Hey double,

Sounds nice. She has a very sweet voice. I like the mix - it does sound like a lot of layers, but I am not a fan of helicopter sounds - makes me think of that 'Goodnight Saigon' song by Billy Joel. That's just my hangup though.

Check out 2 tracks which i did all the synth/electronic work for an established artist (with her permission of course). The tracks are not yet processed, mixed-down nor mastered ... but you'll get the idea.

Here are the direct MP3 links ... play them loud & proud on good set of speakers.

I've got about a dozen of them now of all kinds of varieties. I once came across a cache of very large bamboo that was driving the owner of a baseball park nuts...so I took care of the problem for him...used a driveshaft to knock out the nodes. I made hundreds of them and gave most away over the years. I've kept a few though. I've been paid for session work with a didge once. The "prettiest" one I own is aboriginal, termite hollowed eucalyptus, and about 4 and 1/2 feet long...weighs about 25 pounds, but I think a couple of the bamboo ones I made years ago sound the best.

A great way to store them that I've found is large fishing rod cases. I can't find cases to fit all of them though.

Chris: just caught this post when I was searching through the forum here. lol sorry about the late reply man. Very cool about the collection though man! I have no clue how to make one, but if you ever come across a tree to knock out like that again and make them up, would you mind sending one my way? I would love to actually own one that I could mess with more. Well, I will chat you later man. peace

BretFarewell-
Bret,
Nice job on What Price Fugitive/'Can't Complain'...but especially good(to me) is Simeon Howell/Amity. The drums are indeed killer...very cool bass sound, song...and perhaps mainly, the singer's voice and style...very nice. Great job on the mix/master from you, IMO.

Still listening to more songs...some damn good stuff lately.
