Kernel Panic with Mbox2 USB

I keep experiencing an OS kernel panic only when I have my mbox2 (USB) driver installed. It usually happens when the mbox is not plugged in. I'm attaching my crash log that specifically mentions the mbox, and details my hardware and system configuration. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Kernel Panic with Mbox2 USB

Hi,
Have you resolved this? I keep getting Kernel Panics (5 in as many days) with the same error messages in the log. I've only been using this (brand new) computer for 11 days. I've been advised to unplug all usb devices except the keyboard and keep using the computer to see if it crashes. I've put my logic key back in so that I've got some software to use but not the mbox just yet. I've wiped the operating system after the first 4 KPs and had another one shortly after reloading OSX, Logic and Protool (but nothing else). The mbox 2 mini was connected during the first 4 KPs but I wasn't running Protools or Logic but the Mbox was used to play sound through iTunes and Quicktime. The KPs all seem to happen when closing Safari, the last 2 definitely were. Does that sound familiar? Any advice would be gratefully received.
Best wishes,
Lisa.

Re: Kernel Panic with Mbox2 USB

Hi there! Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem either! I keep getting the same probs with my MBP (OSX 10.4.10) and MBox2 setup. It mostly happens when I try to close down certain apps - MSN Messenger, Safari, or Logging Off. Really annoying! Hopefully theres someone out there who'll know more about it and can help resolve the issue. I've resisted the temptation so far to roll back to 10.4.9. I don't see why I should really. Not sure if it would even solve the prob anyway!

Cheers

I tried to re-install 7.3.1cs3 with no luck. I sent the crash report to Digi Tech Support and I suggest all those who have this problem to do the same.

Re: Kernel Panic with Mbox2 USB

The problem is not because you bought a Mac. The problem is because you bought a Mbox. I've owned an original Mbox, a Mbox2 and a Mbox mini just to be able to run ProTools at home and I've had problems with all of them. At the same time, I work with Logic, Live and various interfaces (including Focusrite and MOTU) and never had any of those problems...Rock solid!
Problem is, when we talk about audio editing, there's nothing that touches ProTools. And that's why I still use it (and still hate it) Of course, PT HD is a complete different game. However, a HD rig is not very portable and costs way too much for a home system, at least for me. I've been using Logic 8 since last week and while it's getting better and better, I'm not sure it'll replace ProTools completely.

Can anyone experiencing this problem please tell us the exact model Mac you're using?

We have a suspicion this is related to specific Mac models, but need more info to be sure....
