I was kinda disappointed too, but I can understand (not defend) Avid in this situation, because Monterey 12.0 is a wreck. They need to wait until Monterey is stable, then give support for it. They have not always supported dot-zero or even dot-one apple OS, remember... nothing new here, especially now with completely new processors.

Re: 2021.12 | Release Notes
Can someone explain this?
"Pro Tools 2021.10 and higher uses an updated version of PACE Copy Protection. ⚠️ Please make sure that all third party plug-ins have also been updated to insure compatibility. Plugins without an updated version of PACE may cause Pro Tools 2021.10 or higher to crash" What does it mean? So no waves plugs? |

Re: 2021.12 | Release Notes
At least it means no Avid Complete Plug-In Bundle, but yes, any plugin not updated with the new PACE protocols will crash PT. However 2012.12 seems to notify on start and ask to move to unused folder before loading them into memory and thus crashing PT.

I have a ton of iLok plugins that may not have been updated for some time. How do I know - without running it and having half moved to the unused folder - what will work and what will not? Is there any indication in iLok manager to give us a steer? |
Re: 2021.12 | Release Notes
Read my previous post. Not sure if it applies to all, but at least Avid acks their extra plugins need update.

Let's start again. I understand every iLok-based plugin will need to be updated to the "latest iLok protocols". OK - I don't know what those protocols are, or when they came into effect. So the big question is - without first installing 2021.12, how do I know WHICH plugins are not updated to the latest protocols? Can iLok license manager tell me? I don't want to update PT (which is always a faff) only to discover a dozen of my plugins I rely on have been neatly tidied away into the unused folder. This is info every person updating will need to find out, seems to me. But I've no idea how to do it - without first breaking my setup. |
