Sofine,
Just got to listen to your songs today. 'Falling' is beautiful. I love the unexpected, but welcome chord changes. And the vocal restraint is just perfect. For some reason, I can hear Seal doing this song. Great songs in my humble opinion.

Mr. Seven -

Nice tune! Very clean and warm.

Great vocal tones. Did you use pitch correction? I hear digital "shifting" here and there, but that could just be from the MP3 compression.

Where is Al from? I detect an accent, but couldn't quite place it. At times it was nice to hear it, and at other times it sounded as if English is his second language and was a little distracting.

Around 1:45 it would be great to hear drums come in, and I would have liked to hear the keyboards stay in to add to the dynamics.

This song could easily be a radio hit for any number of artists of many styles.

Good job!

Thanks a mill Roy,

Great to get some feedback from the land of the King! I haven't had a chance to listen to your tunes yet, but I will do so.

Seal, interesting. I agree, it would compliment his vox and style. I'll tell our singer - hope he doesn't go Crazy (sorry).

Check out a new topic I've started in the general discussion section about a'n'r showcases - something our band is looking into at the mo - I would love everyones opinion from this topic - some great heads!

Cheers,

Hello. I'm part of a group we call Scumbo. We use a variety of tools (sound forge, Reason, Pro Tools, fruity loops, many more things...) --- We are looking to try to stick with less things... as of now about half of our work is being done with pro tools and the other half with various other things --- because the 2 of us do work in different places --- he's got pro tools and i don't (i've been waiting for a win2000 or XP version of digi 001 or MBox) --- anyways we do a variety of different song styles. we hope to make up a few new ones along the way. check our site at www.scumbo.com if interested. based in NY, NY

Hi Big Red Button,

Nice production work. The songs really sound great. I really like the arrangement and mix on Wrecking Ball. Really keeps your attention, a bit put off with the rise and fall intro vocal, but he can sing.

Middle Management is a great song, really like it.

Have a listen to my bands EP (Digi001 - similar setup to you...)

Thanks for listening! The "he" you were referring regarding the vocals is actually me, so I'll thank you myself for your compliments.

I'm not quite sure what you meant by the "rise and fall vocal intro", can you elaborate a little, I'm curious.

I listened to your stuff, and I liked it a lot! Very cool vibe. I really like the acoustic and piano sounds. These will definitely be added to my MP3 jukebox.

Springtime Girls,I'm actually working on a tune called Summertime Girls right now.Your songs are always fresh sounding. You have a great ear for mixing.I have'nt heard anything with the clarity of your mixes posted yet. I love your guitar playing. You have a really unique sound and a wicked vibrato. I've enjoyed listening to lots of your stuff.I would put this one right up there with Goblin Moon.Stu

Stu,
Thank you SO much, man. The opinions on this DUC mean so much, because the ears here are among the best in the world, and cannot be fooled. The DUC is a good testing ground, and I noticed it makes me strive to be better. Pretty cool...

Thanks again, Roy

Big Red Button,

What I meant by the rise and fall of the vocal was reffering to "fruit from the SKY falls to the ground" at 29 - 35 secdonds - just felt a bit weird to my ear, as if the work SKY should have been sung at the same range rather than dropping down. I know I'm being picky and waffly but just seemed like a bit of a jump that stood out. I love the song though and you voice reminds me of a mix of the lead vox from Pearl Jam (Ten era) and The Crash Test Dummies.

Roy,

Springtimegirl is a great vibe. I love the opening piano, comes in around 13 seconds, (or is that a midi guitar) riff with a nice volume (or filter) dip and panning. How did you get the lead gtr sound, sounds a bit vocodery. Sounds great. Even though it's got Spring in the title it reminds me of Summer, cruising down the highway with the top dowm - though in pissy rainy Ireland one never gets the chance - maybe that's why I like the tune so much! Nice guitar playing too - lovely accurate bending. That's not midi guitar is it?! Nice texture sound for intro and outro too. Great stuff.

Simon,
I'm sorry I forgot to answer your guitar question.(I was picturing us cruisin... )
Uhh, the solo was played with the guitar I built through a DigitechRP2000 effects processor, which is editable. What's kind of interesting though, is that ALL the rest of the sounds are my Strat(except the obvious organ riff). I've been boring all my buddies here telling them about this system I've created called 'AESOP'. It's basically a PT session with 24 tracks of interchangeable notes, and I'm getting some good stuff from it.

Thanks again... ~Roy
