I am a huge NIN fan, TOOL, and all the others out there. Actually had the priviledge to open for Tool, Bosstones and some others back in the early 90's up in Cleveland. Kinda cool... Small club (Flash's in the flats) in 1991/2 time right before they played Lalapalooza. Pretty much I listen to everything but country. Not a huge fan of that and just really cannot stand it. I try to stay open minded though. I like Widespread Panic, Phish, U2, and my wife has gotten me into a lot of Techno/Trance stuff these days. Paul Oakenfold and such. Gotta get that groove thing going ya know... I like to listen to the stuff on here a lot. Gets ya away from all the mainstream radio crap that is over playd in teh Washington D.C. area. (That is where I am)

That is all.... :-)

Doc

Take a listen to this tune.
I was going to add my guitar part in
but they would only let me play a G chord.

Chris/IntelDoc,

Just listened to carolinagirl. Me likes! I really like your sampletank violin line, very tasteful and subtle. Its mixed in ever so slightly so that it retains a "real" quality. Sampletank rocks! As far as the overall mix, I really like it. I personally would have done something different with the reverb on the vocalist. It's a bit too contrasting with the simple and clean instrumentation for my ears, but everyone has their own style. One other recommendation I have is that you might want to bring the solo guitar down ever so slightly and try out some nice reverbs on it to see what kind of effect it might have. Maybe even automate the reverb to increase slightly over the course of the solo. Also maybe slowly bring up the violin line during the solo towards the end so that the solo sort of pushes you into the ending. By the way, I really like the girl's background vocals!

Keep in mind that these suggestions are just some of those things that tend to permeate my style. Your's is definitely different, but I really like it. Keep the great tunes coming!

And now, I figure this place is as good as any to ask a question like this: Anybody know anything about live webcasts? I've got to do one on the 24th, and frankly, I may be in above my head here. I'm assuming it won't be terribly difficult. If it wasn't live, I don't think I'd have any problems, but maybe a few of you cats out there can point me to some resources that would be helpful. Thanks. If I can pull this off, I'll point everyone here to the URL to check out the concert. Also, I'm sure I'll have to do a test run before then, so anyone up for some testing with me go ahead and let me know.

Hey Chris
Thanks, and Thanks again for the MIC TIPS! :-) Always gotta plug that for ya! 319's were all I used, plus that ART DI/O box. Oh ya, and the RODE NTK for the VOX. As for the lead, I am going to lower that a bit. I did on the rest of the tune, but forgot to on the end. I will also look into the reverb and think that you are right. It will give it a larger ambient feel. The violin was going to be a harmonica, but I told Joel the singer/guitarist that I heard violin, so I put it in there as a test. He liked it a lot. I will try the automation on the verb too. That could be cool.

Thanks for the tips, more to come!

Later,
Doc

Swap, I love it. I can't stop laughing my head off. While I normally hate autotune, it seems to really give it a good-ole "Alvin and the Chipmunks"-ish feel. Thanks for the fun!

Thanks Chris,
It's just amazing what we can do these days
with high tech recording gear and fancy
plugin software. I used a lot of compression,
EQ, and panning to get the right effect.
Of course the timing was critcal so I used grid
mode to make sure everything was in sync with
the midi time clock.
Did I do good on that G chord?

Swap
Way too much GEE Chord, flanger delay time was alittle long, considering the envelope filter used
But the fact that this was done in Under 3 week's is truly amazing,
Was that Andrea Bocceli singing backup hootenanny's

Mmmm... Swamp Metal. I like that.
I'll have to post some Tic Goo style and see how that goes over. There is so much freedom to create
when you have all the gear and software.
I see you picked up on the flanger and NasalVox plug. You must have a well trained ear Archtop.
I'm so glad you liked.
I spent so much time on MushatootinanyNay that I about wore her out. You know after a while it's hard to stay objective about a mix as complicated as that.
But it's done and that's dat.
