Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

I posted this a couple of days before the "Big Crash" and my post got wiped out, so here goes again...

My first post here on the "Let's hear.." thread after listening to you guys for two years!!
My most "dense" mix to date ... all 24 tracks, healthy amount of plugs, a true test of my system's limits and it ran beautifully!! (Yes, I'm still running 98SE and 5.1.1)
A "demo" for my friends in "Garagestar" here in Miami. They're playing this song out live and they are shopping with this and a couple of other demos that they did before.
We tracked everything here on the 001.
Drums are MIDI with the Roland XV5050 with "Dynamic Drums" exp card.

All right, let me have it!!

Garagestar - A Million Miles Away

After you click on page, it's MP3-003! It's labeled...you'll see it. Sorry for the extra click.

Regards all,

Bill Murphy

Here is a new song we finished using digi001 for recording, editing, mixing. The song is called Intention. My friend Steve (we use to play together in a punk band, I played the drums)and I tried a style new to us, pop that is...
Give it a listen if you would and write whatever you think sounds good and/or bad. You could also read about the creation and the recording of the song at http://www.geocities.com/tuvan2575

If nothing happens when you click on the above link, try right click and "save target as".

I would really appreciate any feedback.

Tuvan,

You really have something nice there. 2 things and this tune is a smash.

1. you need to bring up the lead vocals a bit.

2.(and this is the most important), if you get the female vocal singing the la-la-la's as well (in the chorus) this tune rips..she's got an interesting whine/tone to her voice and should NOT be taken out in the most imprtant part of the song.

if you get her to do the octave la-la-la's over what the fellas are doing thats it! or have her scat around and over the guys (something structured that repeats in every chorus) maybe have her do a faster answer to the fellas part (a guick la-la-la at the end of there phrase)..BUT whatever you do, do not have her sit out the chorus.. she's the hook!

I wish I could sing you what I'm talking about..hope you get the idea!

great mix, recording, performance, scratching..Awesome!

Bloux thanks for the feedback, and we actually were thinking about adding her to the lalalas as well. That's the main reason we posted the song and you nailed my question without me even asking the question.
Thanks again, we will add her there.
Tuvan.

Hi all,
I just worked on 2 new songs: Still In The Night and Endgame.
My basic setup is: digidesign 001, Motif Synth, Guitars and Bass. Lots of plug-ins.
It's a very small flash file and they stream.
I'd love to get some feedback on them. Are they too bassy?

I did some catching up on listening this morning...

Cavet your Eruptor,
Nice songs! I particularly like 'Dusty Road', which I bet would be good in an Indie film. Of course, I'm partial to instrumentals anyway. But, very nice...

Murph16/Bill,
Very good job on the production. I still can't believe those are Midi drums! Though I liked the first mix I heard, I think the new changes are definitely for the better. I think you achieved the dynamics you were shooting for. Good job, man! Please be sure to let us hear what's next...

Chonk,
Hey man, it sounds great through my 'fairly decent' speakers. You're doing a great job of mixing with phones, in my opinion. So you're gonna add live drums and vocals? Well, please post it when you do. But, be sure to save the Midi drums (I know you will), just in case, because I think they chug as they are...

Tuvan,
Sheesh, this song is really interesting. I really enjoyed it, and the turntables add so much (Dj Brillo does an excellent job), they really enhance the song. Nice vocals too, IMO.

Bey,
I'm really sorry, but I can't get Shock right now on my pc. I'll try to get it later though and listen.

Thanks to each of you for letting me listen... very nice work...
