Hello All,

In between all computer tweaking, ASIO-fiddling and belly-dancing (what?!?) we actually managed to finish a new song last night.

It´s called Down To Earth and is a laid back kind of a pop-song.

My buddys vocals went through a Focusrite Trakmaster, so did the bass. Drum is Reason, keyboards is me and a very good friend of mine did the guitar solo that we transferred via ICQ....which f*cked up his computer so now we´re back to computer tweaking, ASIO.....Ahhhh....I´ll just shut up now...

Yeah, well...one of the things that we just couldn´t get good is the drumfill right before the solo...sounds dead...!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Really good songwriting there.I think your wrong about the drum break before the solo .I thought the entire production was excellent.the solo Made me think of whales by what was played Don't know if it was intentional but if it was it worked.Good singer as well.It's refreshing to hear a tune with some content.Save the planet it's the only one we have. Not that I would be doing it better [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] , but I think too that in that drumfill the hits after the first two could be more furious ( faster ) but for the song I go with Stut.

thanks guys....yeah, that slide solo came out pretty good...Was fun doing it too. I did a rough mix, sent it to my friend who made the solo....he mailed the solo back...I pasted...

the drum-fill....we will probably go crazy over that...

I have just posted my first attempt at this - at least using my 001 and ProToolsLE. I would appreciate ANY feedback - composition, performance, mixing, etc.

I thought the song as a whole was very good. My thought on the fill before the solo was this: the tempo seemed fine, but if you started with a short roll on the snare, played soft to hard (quiet to loud) it would give you the "more furious" effect that lalaman was talking about and kind of set up the slide better. Just my 2 cents!

Finally got to listen... 'Faded Love' has some nice chords, and I'll bet it would sound even better with a little reverb, possibly. The timing could be a bit tighter, possibly using a metronome, and some added instruments might benefit it as well. But, the concept is very good. Nice piano sound too... [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
Your flute in 'The River Flows' is also very nice. You were wise to add other instruments to enhance it. This would be my favorite of the two songs.
Your appreciation for music is obvious in these songs. So I encourage you to keep creating and posting the new things you do.
