Automation question

OK, I'm brain farting today.
I have a channel currently muted via a VCA. I want to unmute just that channel for one song via a snapshot recall...

Yes VCA and mute are scoped.

thanks,

Steve

Hey Steve,

Here are a few ideas...

1. Remove the channel from the VCA for the one song (don't forget to add it back in the follow on snapshot). Store the input channel with its mute state off. This is likely the easiest approach, especially if it's one channel for one song.

2. Leave the channel under VCA control and manually unmute the channel when the snapshot is recalled. It's possible to unmute an implicitly muted channel (e..g, a channel muted indirectly by a mute group or VCA) simply by pressing the input channel's mute button. The first press unmutes it, second press mutes it directly, and a third press resumes indirect mute control via the mute group or VCA.

It may be possible to come up with something a bit more automated and clever using the Events system, although I can't think of it off the top of my head...

Re: Automation question

What I would probably do is, take all the other channels out of the VCA control group and mute them with the channel strip for the one song. I tend to assign different things to different VCA's on a per song as needed basis.
This lets you maintain control of the channel with the VCA.
