Subscription to perpetual license with existing iLok / serial?
I bought an Eleven Rack with a 1 year subscription to pro tools. The subscription expired.
Now I want to buy a perpetual license. Can I pay for the license online using Avid website, transfer the new license onto my existing iLok and keep using my existing pro tools install? If so, how do I do this? I'm asking because when I go to the purchase page on Avid website, the only option I can find for perpetual license is to pay $599, and wait for a new box / iLok to be shipped out. Also, am I right that the $299 upgrade/re-instatement plan does not include a perpetual license? Thanks |

Re: Subscription to perpetual license with existing iLok / serial?
Thanks for your reply Stig.
If interpret the chart correctly: 1. I am in the "Pro Tools 12 w/out Active Upgrade Plan" category because I had an annual subscription to pro tools 12 which expired 2. If I buy the Annual Upgrade Plan (Reinstatement) for $299, I will get a perpetual license for pro tools 12 which will never expire even if I don't keep renewing the annual upgrade plan 3. which means that I only need to spend 299 not 599 to get the perpetual license. Can anyone tell me if the above is correct? What I am still unclear about is: does the $299 reinstatement = a perpetual, never expiring PT 12 license even if you don't keep paying the annual fee for the latest updates? I just want PT 12 as it is now, and don't care about updates. Thanks |

You will get a perpetual license (non-expiring) with updates for 1 year included.

Re: Subscription to perpetual license with existing iLok / serial?
Thanks, but I'm confused (and it's probably my fault). I just spoke to sweetwater and they told me that the only way for me to get a perpetual license in my situation is to pay the $599.

Re: Subscription to perpetual license with existing iLok / serial?
I made a mistake. My apologies for the confusion.
These are the requirements: "NOTE: This product is for Pro Tools Perpetual License customers on v9 or greater, M-Powered 6-9, or Express (Avid Edition) whose software is NOT currently covered under an Upgrade Plan." |
