Best memory for Powerbook G4
 

I just bought a powerbook g4 and I need to upgrade the memory. I will probably put in a 512 stick. I was wondering if there is any recommended brands I should be looking at. I heard some memory does absolutely nothing and I don't want to be stuck with it. Thanks

You should search the forum, this topic has been covered many times before. The brands you hear about most are Crucial and OWC, but a little research will get you up to speed.

I bought my Powerbook last october, when they were first released. I went through 2 different brands of RAM before I could sleep easy. After the stock RAM and OWC, and many bottles of Advil later, I ended up getting the Samsung chips, which were highly recomended on the Apple forums.

Yes, Apple charges you an insane markeup if you add that option when buying the computer, but I got a great price buying elsewhere (www.memoryx.net). By the way, I would highly recommened at least 1GB, it's well worth it.

Crucial has allways given me top quality ram at low price. Lots of ram, zero problems. Highly recomended.
