Some of you guys have heard the song below, 'One Eyed Gypsy Waltz', before, but skip_b has been doing some mastering on some of my stuff, and here's one of his mixes...

Hey Chris,

In "Ouf of here" i hear something funky going on at 39 and 50 seconds into the mp3. It sounds like a weird edit or something. Ofcourse my player could be the culprit...;-)

Which Player are you using to hear the glitch Bastiaan. One of my players has a glitch as well but the the other doesn't.

I am using windows media-player version 8.00.00.4487. I have to admit it is a very little thing, but i just noticed it...

Roy,That song is killer man, all I did was crank up the volume so all the neighbors could hear that Memphis guitar picker nice and loud hehe

Roy/skip b,
I hadn't heard that before (I just don't get on here and post as much as I'd like)...but i loved the sounds...and the lead...at times reminded me of Zappa or maybe even Alan Holdsworth (is that aging me?). Anyway, just wanted you to know that I dug it. Very Kewl.

Archtop, great job! the tune has a great jam band vibe, and I think the recording is great, I really like the drum sound. this tune mad me wish I could get a decent bass sound, that mic'ed up cab really sounds fantastic, a WHOLE lot better than my ****y squire bass direct into my presonus TOOB pre.

there, I'm done.

Seriously, very nice job.

Roy, good playing, good production.

Roger, very nice, polished production sound. How did you get it? Is that a pod?

Roger, I can't get your page open...I tried a few combinations...no luck. Could be a forum glitch(?), but it's working in other places. I want to hear it though.
Thanks, Roy

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks guys,

I’m almost done with the song, and as soon as I finish it I will post here.
BP: for Guitar I’ve used just the clean channel out from my Mesa Boogie DC-5 going through a Sansamp PSA-1 Plugin. I need to kind of polish it up a bit, but I’m happy with the guitar sound so far. I will keep you guys posted…

Best,

hi y'all

I have a number of songs up on Broadjam. The song "Buying the Moon" is the only with vocals, the rest are all either drum&bass, downtempo electronic or something along those lines

Gorilla, thanks for getting this going. I'm hearing lots of great stuff...

Very cool melody...unique and interesting structure, and nice guitar work. What are you playing through, if I may ask?...good stuff...

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hey Roy,

For rhythm I’ve used an ESP 7 Strings with Seymour Duncan Pickups (4 Tracks). In the Solo I’ve used my Yamaha RGZ 621 with Bill Lawrence pickups on the bridge and DiMarzio on neck out from a Mesa Boogie (Clean Channel) Through a Sansamp PSA-1 (Plugin). Hope that answers your question… BTW, you are a great composer… You also have unique compositions. It’s like your ID. I guess if I hear something that you composed in the radio, I would know that's YOU playing… We definitely should do a song together. Just let me know when you will be able to JOIN FORCES…

Take care,

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hi roger... thanks so much for your comments. You and I will definitely have to collaborate very soon. I have an idea in mind that may be a very interesting instrumental for us...definitely not your standard 'jam'. I just have to clear some other work out first. But believe me, I'm flattered at the opportunity to work with you and several others here. So, book it. We'll do something ASAP.
thanks, Roy

Man, I remember when this post was only one page long! It's awesome to see it still going. I couldn't find my original post so I figured I'd just throw my name back into the mix. I've heard a ton of great stuff on this post in a bunch of different styles. Very cool!!. My buddy and I are working on a cover cd of sorts that's why the majority of our page is covers, but there are some originals on there. Not sure what is new and what is old for those of you that have already checked it out. All input is welcome of course!

Enjoyed the song Arch. Nice recording. Everything sounds great!! Now if I can get my band's recordings sound that good. Nice drum sound. Could you tell me your basic setup of the drum micing and placement? What mics, etc.?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks for checking it out dwkick
real normal set-up
57s snare and rack tom
ev 318 on floor tom
beta 52 on kick 2 "
57 on kick 8"
xy overhead w/condensers (451 & ?)
ADK - 51 room
Lot's of O.H. and room w/ a little of the close mics for definition.
alot of high pass filtering goin' on most of the tracks. ( my "NEW" mix fix technique )individual light compression on most tracks.

my plugg count was 46 I think

pUg

dwkick 08-31-2003 08:59 AM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Pretty much the same setup I'm using. Minus the ADK room. I'm just using beta 52 on kick and 57's on toms, snare and OH's. I'll have to use a room mic. I like that room sound. I'll have to wait though till I get a preamp as I'm using all 8 analog inputs. Unless maybe I could go through my ADAT and use that just as a vehicle of getting a couple more tracks throught the lightpipe. Thanks for the info.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks , No not me singing, just one of my favorite bands, that I've offered the "pay before you die plan" to. They been givin' me gear and their gig money, great guys, .

Steve , I know I'de be tryin to use the adat as an A/D ,make sure you get optic cable that have a small diameter on the part you grab, 'cause the optical in/out on PT card are very close and 2 Monster cables will not fit, if your only using one (in OR out), it don't matter , but if you need 'em both, it does(learned the hard way $$$$$$talk about overpriced, I think it was $90.00 for the pair, when the ones that will work are $ 8 - $ 12 )

Steve my go to thing on that mix was the Hi - Pass filter set higher than you might think was necessary, on alot of the tracks(ALL? I'll check)

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Haven't stopped in here in a while...104 PAGES, Roy??? Wow, this thread must hold the record! Looking forward to checking out some the recently posted pieces next weekend when I'll hopefully have a little down time. Hours and hours worth of new stuff on here from the look of it.

As for what I've been up to during my too lengthy absence, clips of 3 songs from the new EP I'm working on can be found on my site. For those who listened to clips from my first CD, this is very different - less prog rock and more techno. I should mention that all 3 mixes (especially "Turn it Off,") are in a fairly rough state; I decided this time to record everything first and then do all the proper mixing at the end.

Anyway, back to work...

Hey.. I haven't posted anything new here in quite a while. I'd be curious to see what people have to say about what I've worked on lately. Here's a few bands I've recorded over the past couple of months. Everything was done on a Digi001, with various mic pre's, mic's, etc. And hopefully this link works.

Rational Punk/Dave,
'Ryan's Last Drive' is really good. I've always admired the sounds you get, and this one is cool too. The lyrics are very image-laden and interesting. Your stuff is always played and recorded extremely well. Let us know when the new CD is done... thanks, Roy

Lethargy,
Good engineering job...Are 'Blood' and 'WMD' done by the same group? The song titled 'Teim' reminds me of Green Day, which I'm sure has been said before. Anyway, good stuff, and thanks...-Roy

Datus/Stephen,
I meant to write in that 'current projects' thread that I really like everything you've posted. And this song is really interesting. It became something other than what I expected from the intro, which is refreshing. Good job, and good stuff.
thanks for letting me listen...

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Roy, thanks for the kind words. And to answer your question, no, those two songs are done by two different bands. One band is called "When Memories Die", hence the WMD, and the other band is called "No Hollywood Ending". The No Hollywood Ending song is actually off of a full length that I did with them that I'm kind of excited about, as it's going to have national distrobution. I'm hoping something good comes of that. Thanks again.
