EuControl My Surfaces Order
 

Hi,

I've been reading through the EuControl surfaces documentation. I have an S1 and a Dock. I am planning on adding a second S1 shortly. The documentation says:

The order (top-to-bottom) that surfaces are listed in My Surfaces determines the order of fader strips (1–n, left-to-right). For example, if you add two S1s the top-most S1 will default to tracks 1–8 and the lower S1 to tracks 9–16

Since I only have a single S1 and Dock at this time, does the order matter at all?

I did try moving the order around but other than the screen refreshing I didn't see any functional change. Please let me know what you think.

Put the dock at the bottom. I have found if the Dock is at the top, you'll get some weird banking/nudging of the faders. (It's been awhile but I would get things like the next track instead of the attentioned track on the dock fader or a duplicate fader on the dock fader instead of the attentioned track.)

That doesn't happen with the Dock at the bottom (after all your S1) (The position of the tablet on the Dock doesn't matter though)

Hi and thanks for the response. I'm still learning the ins and outs; purchased these last month. Did you get a chance to see the screen shot I attached? It shows my current setup with the Dock at the Bottom. Is this correct? Once I get the second S1 how should the order look?

Yes, saw your screenshot and that’s good. If/when you get your second S1 put the one on the left at the top and the one as the right (whether side-by-side or the dock in between the two S1 units) second.
