Komplete 13 Crashes PT 2021.6
 

Greetings!
Hoping this is the appropriate forum for this. I have been working on a brand new Mac Pro 5,1 install of Pro Tools 2021.6 on Mojave on an NVMe SSD drive. I only recently finished the lengthy process of installing/updating all my plugins from my previous PT 10 HD2 Accel system. So far, so good. Everything worked great (so far). Last night I decided to upgrade my version of NI Komplete 10 to Komplete 13. Let the massive install run overnight. I had the Download and Library files go to a 4TB internal SATA drive. This morning everything looked like it had installed fine. I went to load Pro Tools and the Crash Reporter popped up while loading plugins. At first I unloaded the couple of Komplete plugins that seemed to be loading right when the crash occurred. But it kept crashing. So just now I went through the fairly painful manual process of identifying and moving all the Komplete plugins to the Unused folder. And voila, PT loads right up again, no problem.

Anyone else running Komplete 13 on 2021.6? I have a working copy of 2021.13.1 running on another drive, but I don't want to bother testing whether I have the same issue on that system. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!!

As a followup I tried putting some of the main NI Komplete plugins back in one at a time - Battery 4, Kontakt 5, Kontakt, Massive. Pro Tools loaded fine. Put Massive X in and it crashed. So it seems to be at least that one NI plugin that is causing problems...

Massive X has some extra requirements the other plugins don't.

You need a CPU with AVX. Check your CPU, that may be the issue.

Thanks, that's got to be it. I'm on a 2009 cheesegrater flashed to 5,1, old CPU... any other plugs in Komplete I need to avoid that you know of? Kind of frustrating, I was looking forward to checking out Massive X... thank you! (That support article says it's not supposed to prevent installs of Massive X on unsupported CPU's, but maybe my fake 5,1 messed it up...)

Yeah, Native Access shouldn’t have let you install Massive X. Our CPUs don’t support it. I don’t know if Apple Silicon will be able to run that instruction set either. That was an unfortunate programming choice on NI’s part.
