News on bins/folders? Cheers. M. (user since 1996) |
Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
I will upgrade Protools from v11 when I get bins or folders.
Avid - How can you underestimate your clients so badly - V12 is clearly just a bump to get everyone on the subscription base. Been using Digidesign Qsheet AV /Sound Tools & then Protools since 1989. Always updated my Avid Media Composer's and Protools rigs within a few months of new versions coming out - or when it suited me to do so or when the features justified the purchase - not when I was held over a barrel. I wish Avid to be prosperous, but this is greedy or desperate! |
Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
Looking at the blurb it does seem as if the only difference to PT11 is cloud compatibility.
Not something I'm particularly interested in at the moment. I agree StefB, it must be virtually impossible to code folders in the region list. We've only been asking for them for 20 years now. So I will ask again... Pretty please Mr Avid. |

Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
just cross our fingers they don't purposefully destroy the program, like apple did with FCP, just so they could 're-sell' it to everyone AGAIN! wow the balls of that move....i guess when your number 1 you can do anything....in avids case i guess they're just trying to stay alive

Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
It does sort of feel like that in a way.
Most of the new features they're plugging for PT12 seem to be things that are already in 11. Anyhow I like 11, its stable and works well for me. But I'd really like to see some of the long term idea scale feature requests make it into the program. 12 seems like a release for budding pop stars and not post, a bit like the difference between 9 and 10. Maybe it will even out with 13, or will they skip that in case its bad luck?... Woooooooo! |
Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
let me select a portion of audio from the workspace browser and import the whole file in the background. like a clip editor. Oh, and all the missing bits from AudioVision.
:D |
Re: pt 12 is cloudy and supportive
In all fairness, this cloud thing can be a very good thing if they implement it properly and price it right. At least the last 3 feature I've worked on required cloud collaboration and it's a bit of a pain to use 3-4 different cloud services to be able to get the job done.
Still, I would be more happy to see those requested features to happen (clip bins, etc.) |
