VI playback is out of time with playback not on quarters or whole notes
Hi everyone,
I've been having this issue forever and I haven't really found a way to solve it yet. Hope I can explain clearly: When using virtual insruments if I don't playback (in Grid mode) from an even part of the bar, the timing of the track is completely off. For example, in bar 1 if I playback from the eighth note (or 16th, etc) between beat 1 and beat 2 (the quarters), the timing will be off. If I start playback from beat 1,2,3, or 4 everything is fine. Is there a way around this?? (other than always playing back from an even quarter or whole). Thanks! |
Re: VI playback is out of time with playback not on quarters or whole notes
I see this with tempo-synched material (like arpeggiators - and which is totally normal) but not usually with “normal” played notes. However, MIDI since 2018 has been unpredictable regarding what the timing is when I play it in (non-quantized) versus how it records and plays back. Delay Compensation might be a factor, but minimizing that doesn’t seem to consistently help.

If it was delay compensation the issue would occur regardless of where the track starts from.
Which VI(s) are you using during the current session that's giving you trouble? And are you playing long notes (i.e. for drum loops or arpeggios)? |
