negative compression ratios

As is my wont when I'm looking at buying plugins I try and dig out as much info on aid plugin. One is the Elysia mpressor plugin from Plugin Alliance. It has negative ratios and some of the research I've dug up says such a thing is impossible. Is it and if so what is going on with the mpressor? Is it another way of saying expansion?

Yes, expansion. My dbx hardware has this
