eLicenser Vienna Ensemble Pro

Okay. So I just barely discovered eLicenser today when I wanted to try out the demo of Vienna Ensemble Pro. I don't know how I have missed this whole eLicenser thing, but I find it very annoying.

I just barely cleaned up all my USB stuff so that I don't need a hub. Hubs have been causing me multiple problems over the years. Often they cause that my keyboard and mouse are unavailable until I unplug and plug them in and etc.

Anyways, is it true that I am going to need to have another ilok style device to plug into my computer if I want to use Vienna Ensemble? That is soo frustrating. Why can't they also support ilok?

Yes is true I'm afraid.

VE Pro has been 64 bit for a good while now which is presumably why they didn't go with iLok.

Just an FYI, the Vienna key is the same thing as a Steinberg key. So if you have already wavelab, cubase etc. you can store the VE pro license on the same key.

Thanks for the head's up. I figured the eLicensor was referring to iLok. I may just go the Reaper route.

eLicenser is horribly annoying, I agree. The original setup and authorization was a headache for me. That was a few years ago and it's somewhat easier now, but not exactly plug-and-play, or even intuitive. Though I haven't played with it in 6 months so it could have changed yet again.

It seems to be secure, and I like that, but it's an added expense and not customer friendly.
