Plugin Settings Website

Hi fellow DUCers

I'm looking to guage the amount of interest and support for a plugin setting website. It would basically be very simple.

I would start with RTAS plugins with a page for each company and then sub-categories for the individual instrument or processor. USers could email their plugin settings to me and how to best use them in music. Each user would be credited for the setting/s.

I would hope this too expand into the VSTi etc aswell but am only looking to have RTAS at the moment. Is their much interest in the said idea? Or has this already been done.

It could also expand to a general community thing on how best to use particular effects, walkthroughs and audio engineering theories in general.

If anyone has any ideas or thinks I'm bonkers...you may post here or email me [email protected]

i think your bonker's because you can't just use a preset and have it work, your going to have to change the settings everytime you do a new recording

Well...I can tell you first hand . There was quite a bit of interest before I put my site up, and I have in fact had users register from over 50 countries. The files that are up there have been downloaded a total of over 260,000 times.

The fact is however, people really just don't get around to posting their presets. I've made changes over the years to make it quite easy, but folks just don't upload much. There definately are a lot of interesting presets there, and I plan on leaving it up indefinately.

Luzer kidd is correct to some extent, but presets certainly aren't useless. Presets are definately best used as a starting point that you can tweak to your own needs. I think they tend to be more valuable for some plugins than others. They can be almost meaningless for things like compression, where the settings are so dependent of each specific situation.

Any attempts to encourage folks to make use of the site will be greatly appreciated!

Tom
