Fighting fader?!?!?!?! Say WHAT?!?!?

So, Just started this studio gig. The control surface is the D-Command and the first thing I notice is almost half of the faders do not respond to touch. Now I'm reading about "fighting faders" (which should be a comic strip by the way) and decide to pull the faders out and clean them.
What part of the fader do you clean exactly? I pulled the fader out and the only thing I thought to clean was the track that the fader moves in. Is there some other part that needs attention?
Could not find a visual guide on line so any tips would be great

Thanks All!!!

Hi,

What I did was to do a "RECAL" a lot of times and it worked.
I don't why it is working but it is and now faders which has not been working for a long time are working fine.
When faders are fighting again, I do the same thing and faders stop to fight ....

Hope this helps.

best to order the carbon fader replacement/upgrade
not the cheapest option but the best for trouble free operation

Cycle is what you really want. Just let them run til it stops. It can help work out the dust etc.

Oh, and yes to carbons if possible.

Will Carbon faders solve 100% this problem???

I have some fighting faders since i purchased my 24 faders blue D-command one year ago.

I removed them all and cleaned them once.
It stoped for a couple of weeks. And slowly started to reapear.
Now it's worst than ever.

I just emailed my dealer to have a price for 24 carbon fader.
But if i make the move, i dont want to see the problem in the future!

thanks1

It did for me. I bought an ES, and the faders started to act up only 3 hours in. Swapped all 8 myself with the carbon ones, and it's been all good ever since. Must be 3-4 years ago now.
