UAD-1 or Liquid mix???
hey
does anyone currently use a UAD-1 pci or Liquid mix with PT 6.9.2?? I run PT 6.9.2 a 002 and a June 2004 Apple G5 Dual 2Ghz I bought a SSL Duende at the weekend that doesnt work so Im going to exchange it this week, the only thing is I have heard bad things about the Liquid mix when used with pro tools and bad tings about the UAD-1 when used with some G5's. so I cant make my mind up what to go for I need to kno which ever I go for is stable with pro tools and can handle a good 14 - 24 plugins Any ideas would be great thanks ow |
Re: UAD-1 or Liquid mix???
I was using a UAD-1 successfully with Pro Tools 7.3 with Pro Tools, but it was on a PC with XP.
Now I can't use the UAD-1 with a Mac Pro because the Mac Pro uses PCI Express and my UAD-1 is a standard PCI card. Personally, I haven't heard anything negative about the UAD-1 with Pro Tools, and again mine worked really well with my Pro Tools LE. As far as the Liquid Mix, I've never heard it in action, nor or I know of anyone who has, but they say it's pretty good. |
Re: UAD-1 or Liquid mix???
What was wrong with the Duende?
Why not get another one? All 3 have their little aspects and work arounds that make them work. The Duende and Liquid Mix perform ok when you add a dedicated FW card to give them their own bus. All 3 require the fxpansion wrapper and it's PT tweaks to align the plugs. Being familiar just those points alone can get them to perform about the same from a reliability point of view. Then you can easily find documemtation on how many instance of a plug they will run. |
Re: UAD-1 or Liquid mix???
I have been trying to contact ssl tech support for 5 days now and still had no response, I have a large mix I need to get sorted in the next 14 days and I dont want to mess about with another Duende with no support from SSL
I think Im going to go for the UAD-1 so I can take advantage of the offer of registering the item and then getting $150 plug in voucher for free thanks ow |
