TimeStamp Issues.....

Hi. I've got a bit of a problem. I am trying to restore a session from years ago that an engineer backed up for me around 1998 or so. The problem is, i do not have the original PT File, just the audio. Since some liberal truncation was done in an effort to save disk space (this was the 90's!!), I need to import the audio files to the original user time stamp. However when i go to spot mode, this optioin is unavailable, it says that is is "Out of Range", is this because this function was not yet supported in earlier versions of PT? Or do i have to adjust the smpte start time? Or what? Any hints would greatly be appreciated .... THANKS!!!!

Re: TimeStamp Issues.....

Drop the file onto the timeline, and use the option to show the original timestamp.
That should give you an idea where to start your session.

thanks, i tried, i drag the audio file from the region list, and it still says out of range on both. I opened up a session from the same studio that had the protools file, thinking that the time code would have same approximate starts, but to no avail... when i started the time code far later, it gave all the files an original time stamp of 540 hours, which i assume is inccorrect, as all files have that same start..... any other ideas? i appreciate it!

Either your session start time is later than the time stamps.. or the files were sd2 files and have had their resource forks stripped.

Yeah I fear theforks are lost, I have heard SoundHack can recover these, anyone have any luck with this? or are there any known apps that can recover this data or is it irretrievable?

thanks again....

The time stamps will be irretrievable.
