ADC Bug in PTHD 9
From a session I have open in PT 9:
Sample Rate - 96kHzThe longest delay showing on any channel is 1067 samples. Despite the fact that my delay compensation setting far exceeds the System Delay for the session I have a red Dly indication. I have deleted Preferences, Digidesign Databases folders, and Volume.dbb files (using Tech Support Utility V3 Mac.command), emptied trash, and restarted. I have also posted this in the PTHD Mac forum. |

Firstly, you only get 4096 samples delay per channel. Secondly, switch to the mixer and open the delay compensation view. Which channel is red? How much delay is there and what plug ins and type of plug in do you have on that track? Best |

Playback Engine>Delay Compensation>Long (8191 Samples per channel) The only settings offered are Short (2047) and Long (8191). There is no 4096 setting in 9.0.0. But even if the number of samples is mislabeled and should be 4096 that is still far longer than the system delay. NONE of the channels in the mixer are showing red in delay compensation view. Like I said, a bug. |
Re: ADC Bug in PTHD 9
Make sure all your outputs are assigned to active outputs.
If this persists, send Avid support a copy of your session and the dlog file created after you open and close the session. Rail |

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this but...
Is Long ADC now 8191 Samples? Can someone please confirm or deny. Cheers, Laki |

are you at 96khz.. is that why? if you are at a lower sample rate you get the other settings.. O.K.? I think that's right.. I am not in the studio right now to check.. |
Re: ADC Bug in PTHD 9
...having the same issue here...wouldn't it be great if the red Dly light was somewhat intelligent and with a click would point you to the violating track? ...just saying.

Re: ADC Bug in PTHD 9
I traced the problem to an aux channel with delay on it and a send pointing back to the same aux. This did not create an ADC problem in prior PT versions.
Simple procedure to recreate the problem: Make a mono aux track. This causes the red Dly light to go on. Deactivating the send turns the red Dly light off. *Note that you do not actually need to instantiate a plug-in on the aux channel, but I thought the example would be safer with it there. If you make sure the send fader is all the way down and inactivate or remove the delay plug-in the red Dly light will still be on, and it will go off when you deactivate the send. Being able to direct a send from a channel back to the same channel's input is a valuable way of creating feedback for time-based effects since it allows the feedback to be processed by any effects preceding the delay. It would be a loss to Pro Tools users if that capability were taken away. |
