HD NATIVE + SSL DELTA-LINK + HD OMNI Interfacing
 

Anyone know if it’s possible to simultaneously connect the SSL DELTA-LINK MADI with the HD OMNI to the HD NATIVE TB interface so that 64 inputs can be recorded via MADI from the SSL DELTA-LINK whilst using the HD OMNI for 8 analogue outputs for control room monitoring and foldback for headphones? Any latency issues or incompatibility?

Not possible. HD Native maxes out at 64 total inputs. That’s 16 channels per each primary and expansion slot on each digilink connection. If the SSL is patched to both digilink ports, it takes up all 64. The only way you can get the Omni in there is to plug it into one of the ports on the card and then plug one port of the SSL into the card with the other port on the SSL into the expansion port on the Omni. But that configuration will only give you 48 in via MADI.

Thanks for the clarification with the HD OMNI.

Still using the HD NATIVE TB interface and noting that the SSL has two sets of MADI ports (A & B), might it be possible to record 64 inputs from the SSL (with this patched to both HD digilink ports) plus somehow patch/map another MADI DAC (such as the FERROFISH A16 MK-II) for analogue outputs?

PT INPUT: SSL MADI I/O (A) > HD NATIVE TB > PRO TOOLS

PT OUTPUT: PRO TOOLS > HD NATIVE TB > FERROFISH DAC via SSL MADI I/O (B)

That will work as long as you only patch the optical MADI output to the DAC. The input would still need to come from your source if you want to achieve 64 ins. SC type optical cables frequently come as pairs, but you can easily snap them apart to route the in side and out side separately.

Regardless of which peripheral hardware is configured as described above, is it possible to input/output only 32 channels using Pro-Tools | Standard or is it only Pro-Tools | Ultimate that has the drivers to interface with the HD Native box?
