ProTools10 HD Native & OSX 10.7.3

I installed two systems, a PT10 on a MacBook Pro and a PT10HDNative on a MacPro 8core.

The MacPro came with a OSX 10.7 so I updated it right away to 10.7.3.... what I normally not recommend. ProTools updater 10.0.1 didn't succeed on this machine, so I am running PT 10.0 (HD Native)

The MacBook Pro came with OSX 10.7.2 so I left it untouched and installed PT 10.0.1. - the current update.

Both systems running, but I would love to update the 10.0 on the MacPro to 10.0.1 a.s.a.p.

Any other experiences out there with OSX 10.7.3 so far?

Would be great to exchange some thoughts on this. Thanks!

Joerg

Correct me otherwise, Avid has not Qualified 10.7.3. So either way you do so at users risk.

That's correct, @filosofem , and I knew that. But that was not my question. I just wanted to share the fact that PT10 is running on 10.7.3 , and if anyone else is running under 10.7.3, I would love to exchange experiences.

I'd absolutely get the Native HD up to 10.0.1. In my experience its a way more stable version for the Native card.
I'd be dumping 10.7.3 without a second thought.

Re: ProTools10 HD Native & OSX 10.7.3

I installed a HDnative card last week in a current quadcore 2.8 Ghz MacPro and was able to update to 10.0.1
Running on yet unsupported 10.7.3.
So far no problems, but I have to say that I didn't find the time for extensive real world testing yet. Only opened one or two testsessions and those were working.
(I updated the HDNative-cards firmware before installing ProTools if that does matter)

Thanks Norman. Yes, I did the Firmware update too, but never tried the Update Installer again after the fist crash. Maybe I will try again after a Clone Copy and see.

You could run the Pro Tools 10.0.1 update installer on your MacBook and install the update onto the Mac pro. Boot your Mac pro in target disk mode by holding down the t button while booting, connect the two macs via FireWire and install the software by selecting the Mac pro as the destination for the install. You could also do it this way with disk sharing.

Thanks @lancemcv. Yes, that would be an option, but since 10.0.0 is running without problems on OSX 10.7.3, I just wait till the next update of PT.
Thanks for the input!

Re: ProTools10 HD Native & OSX 10.7.3

Update:
Did some foley recording and editing over the last week and the system was running fine. I was suprised that I could even play an Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy), 1920 x 1080 stutterfree forward and backward just out of the second grafic cards head (I have the 5770) I had to use at least 128 samples buffer size to avoid error messages (with less demanding DVPal Video as well)
But: ProTools crashed 2 times in 3 working days while scrubbing a simple audiotrack with no plug-Ins, fancy routing or anything else complicated on it!

I know 10.7.3 is not yet approved for this version, I just wanted to inform you that it is still running fine on that OS Version.
I would avoid 10.1.1 until the "Audio from older ProTools Sessions sounds distorted-Bug" is resolved!
