Original Mbox Standalone Driver for Windows 7

Hi guys, Quick one: I have the original MBox and would like to use it with ASIO or Wavedriver so i can run Fruity Loops through it. I've been unable to find these drivers. Any ideas where I can find them?

Thanks in advance.

The original Mbox has EOSS as of Pro Tools 8.0.1.

Thanks mate. Sorry, excuse my ignorance, but what is EOSS? And i don't need to use pro tools. I already have that setup on another machine running the Digi 002. I just want the Original Mbox running on windows 7 via ASIO or Wavedriver. Any ideas?

Cheers bud.

Also... you are asking a Windows question in the Mac section. ;)

EOSS = End Of Service Support

Meaning, after 8.0.1 the MBox is officially discontinued as a Digidesign product. So no more updates, support or compatibility.

This also means that the original MBox will not be qualified for use on Windows 7 or Mac OSX 10.6.

I never said it was impossible for it to work... I said it was not QUALIFIED to work. Of course some people might have other experiences, but these will be far and few between, and they are LUCKY if this is the case.

If you expect to use Pro Tools with any sort of longevity in Win7 or OSX 10.6... you will need to upgrade.

Not only that, but there are no standalone drivers in existence made for use on Win7 or 10.6... and since the original MBox isn't designed to work with Pro Tools 8.0.3... again... any use from it would be pure luck.

That is somewhat interesting given that Digidesign stated that the Mbox will not work after Pro Tools 8.0.1.

He may not be running 8.0....

I suspect the fact that Digi is dropping the original MBox at the time they are rewriting all the drivers to work with 64bit is not entirely coincidental....meaning wherever the drivers are headed the MBoxes hardware cant go.

The Win 7 Beta is pre release software and just because its still working now does not mean that it will if still be working if they need to change the drivers.

Digi always been fairly good about making a Wave or ASIO driver available to download for older hardware. But... they haven't had to cope with going from 32 to 64bit. It would be nice if the final Win7 ASIO driver would support the Original MBox but this time around I wouldn't hold my breath.

The other side of the coin is when you look at all the features 8.0 added its not a bad time to hop off. Would you rather they have ended support with 7.4 or 8.0?

moving this to the Windows LE forum...

On the Featured Downloads page, under Quick Links in the Support section:
www.digidesign.com/downloads

...scroll down toward the bottom of the page to the Digidesign Audio Drivers > Standalone Windows Audio Drivers - ASIO & WaveDriver

The version that supports the original Mbox would be the Standalone Digidesign Windows Audio Drivers v7.4 for Windows. Qualified with XP and Vista, not tested with Windows 7.

There was no standalone version of the 8.0.1 drivers, and the 8.0.3 standalone drivers do not support the original Mbox.

Hi,

I'm trying to locate the ASIO driver referenced in this thread, but can't find it on the new site.

Not seeing the path <Digidesign Audio Drivers > Standalone Windows Audio Drivers - ASIO & WaveDriver> in the link specified by the Administrator in the previous post.

Suggestions appreciated.
