Linking multiple plug-in parameters while maintaining relative values

Say you're half way through a mix, the gain staging is a little off and you want to tweak the output gain of every insert in a drum group, maintaining relative gain values. You can tweak multiple plug-in controls simultaneously by grouping the tracks, but their relative values are lost by doing this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Linking multiple plug-in parameters while maintaining relative values

Put in a trim plugin below the insert (across all channels) and use that. It won't matter if there's clipping on an insert's output gain or not because the PT engine is floating point.

Thank you! Other than the trim workaround i could have sworn there was a shortcut to be able to do it within the plugins themselves. So there basically is no such shortcut in ProTools?

Put the tracks in a group with the insert control turned on as a parameter (not globals). Then adjust the automation lane for the output level. They move in relative and not absolute manner. (I should mention that only works with the mouse tool; if you try to write automation with a controller/record automation, it will be absolute values. That is not an issue if you use the trim plugin and write automation to it since it happens after the fixed relative output level of the plugin.)
