Pro tools 10 and latest 002R asio driver problems

Hi,

I have problems with latest avid win7 firewire asio drivers and Cubase 6.5
I need to instal beta 8.0.4b drivers in order to work with Cubase 6.5 properly. When i do that Pro tools 10 not always start up (I lose precious studio time). I can't just work with PT10 only because its a shared studio environment. I need both programs to run properly with Digi 002R in Win7.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Scubadrum

You have some misconceptions going on here. ASIO has nothing to do with firewire. FW has its own driver. ASIO is for the AUDIO hardware. Pro Tools 10(and 9) is not compatible with XP.

My setup is Win7 don't look in signature its from old times (I can't change it in my profile), there is no separate driver for 002R firewire, its all in one avid driver package. The thing is that with latest drivers pro tools 10 works fine but cubase not.

scubadrum,

Two things to consider. 1) The firewire driver Albee is referring to is your computer firewire driver and can be accessed or changed from device manager. You should have a couple of choices to try when you "update" the driver. 2) When you run any application other than PT and want to use the Digi/Avid ASIO driver, you must run the application as administrator. You do this by finding the executable file and and set its properties to "run as administrator". I'm not familiar with the details of Cubase, but I would guess that there is a file in Program Files or Program Files(x86) that is called cubase.exe. Find it and set its properties as described.

Hope this helps.
Greg

Hi,

I have tried different firewire drivers (including legacy) in device manager but without luck, all software instaled in administrative level account, but I will try your solution.

Thanks

Hi, you can download drivers for 002R here http://secure.digidesign.com/service...&localeCode=en.....

On Windows you can run Cubase and PT at the same time (depend on your CPU) but the Audio hardware setup, has to be diferent for each software...
Cubase and PT gona fight for Audio Hardware... So Try to do. I the time in Pro Tools, your config Audio Setup with 002R, and Cubase with some ASIO Driver, when you need to use 002R on Cubase change the setup on Pro Tools first , and set on Cubase...:-)

Run Pro Tools fiirst. with your config Audio Setup with 002R, and Cubase with some ASIO Driver, when you need to use 002R on Cubase change the setup on Pro Tools first with some ASIO Driver, and set 002R in Cubase...

Sorry for my bad English.
