Good Drum Sample Library?
 

anyone got recommendations on a good Drum Sample Library? I have Drumagog 4 and most of the samples that come with it are a bit lifeless. Some I was considering:

Steve Gadd (Q Up Arts) - WAV format
BunE in a box (Q Up Arts) - WAV format
Dan's House Studio Vintage Drums - Gog format

Looking for something with "live" toms, unmuffled snares... Not electronic bleeps and blips or recorded chunks of cardboard. Something useable for rock, pop, country, blues, jazz/fusion, etc. Also, want samples (multi sample preferred), not loops. I plan to make my own Gog files too, but until I get time, thought I'd try something else.

Any experiences or recommendations are appreciated.

I'd recommend trying FXpansion BFD with XFL expansion pack. They have all acoustic drums you can think of and they sound great. In addition you can stream every mic into your session on separate track through rewire or multiple rtas outputs. All drumkits are miked with a set of 17 mics wich gives you a complete control over your mix. I'm sure BFD will be all drums you'll ever use.

ok, but what format are the samples in? Drumagog can use standard audio files (WAV, etc.) or it's own GOG format (which I'm positive BFD is not). I don't really want to have to play each one into an audio track and extract the samples myself.

With that software you can program the drums using a MIDI sequence, trigger samples from an electronic drumset and also use the individual samples for drum replacement software.

Michael, just to clarify you are looking for a library of samples to import into your existing software correct? Personally I have used some of the old libraries that came with Acid Pro stuff from years ago before I ever touched PT and they sound great. I am a Reason user though... not sure how Drumagog works, but all the samples are in .wav format. Another trick I have used is to record one hits off of a live kit and edit into samples that I can work with, might be time consuming, but might sound a lot better than most of the electronic stuff out there that you might encounter. I think there is a library called PowerFX that is pretty decent also. Goodluck man! peace
