Waves Kramer Master Tape plugin

Is the Kramer Master Tape plugin snake oil or what? Been trying it for a few days now (demo) and am not impressed. Get more use out of PSP Vintage Warmer 2 and VW2 I think has a better sound and is more versatile. Waves has a cheap deal going on until the end of the month with it going for $99 US and also 1 year of WUP.

I know it's supposed to be a subtle effect but still I'm wondering if it's worth the bucks.

If you don't like it, it doesn't really matter what others think. :D

It's okay to not like things. I don't use it. But I was never a fan of 1960's type 1/4" tape machines. PSP doesn't sound/react like tape at all to me but people like it. Other options: Slate and/or Ampex/Studer (if you have a UAD2 card).

in my system, it works very well if i watch the gain staging,
specifically to trim the input/ output to find the sweet spot.
for ex, it'll do a great tom petty/ shelley yakus snare...

It's only partly a matter of liking it or not; I just don't find anything special about it and was wondering if I was missing something or my interpretation of what it's supposed to do was wrong. I'm looking not so much for tape emulation as taking the edge off digital which is one reason I like PSP VW2.

That's one thing I've found it's picky for gain staging.
