Pro Tools M-Powered Locks up while loading....

Check this out. I have a Neko 64 dual Opteron 1.4 gig system. 1 gig ram. XP Pro SP2. I originally had PTMP 6.8 installed, but couldn't get past the splash screen, as the whole system would lock up at the digirewire plug-in....everytime. The same place. I'd have to reset the whole comp. Last night I was up till 5:00 AM working on this. I downloaded 7.0, which required me to upgrade to SP2. and to fully uninstall 6.8. I did all these things, and then installed 7.0.

I then ran PTMP7.0, and wouldn't you know.........it still locked up at the digirewire plug-in!! It took me a while, but I finally found where the plug-ins are located, and removed both files named digirewire.XXX.

ProTools then loaded and ran!! I imported a project from my HD3 system, and all seemed fine. Then, I got out, and tried to go back in again. this time it told me my Ilok had expired!! Never could get it to run again. By the way, the Ilok works fine on my Powerbook install. Anyone?......hello..........!!

This is usually caused by a corrupt ReWire component that's installed by another application. You might want to try uninstalling/reinstalling those applications - Live, Reason, BFD, etc.

I had a similar problem.... when i first got my G5 I installed Melodyne.... before ProTools..... everything was fine until I decided not to include Melodyne on my rig and I uninstalled it... then it always crashed on DigiRewire when launching.... Melodyne was the only ReWire type plug in that I had in my folder.... I reinstalled Melodyne and now everything works fine..... I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling again just to test and had the same results.... It might have to do with installing a ReWire capable application before installing ProTools... it seems like the thing to do is install NOTHING before you install ProTools...
